Obituaries
JAMES GRANVEL HOPKINS
    James Granvel Hopkins, 79, of Center died December 29, 2006 at his home.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born April 7, 1927, in the Aiken Community, he was the son of James Clyde Hopkins and Neva Cornella Bridges Hopkins.  Mr. Hopkins was employed with Southwestern Bell and served in the U.S. Army.  He is preceded in death by parents and Wife Maudine Hopkins; brothers, Swinnon Hopkins and Rodney Hopkins; and sister Gwinnon McSwain.  Survivors include sons;  Guy Hopkins of Morrow, Georgia; Teddy Hopkins of Center; sister, Beth Spurlock of Center;
FRANK L. ANDERSON, JR.
    Frank L. Anderson, Jr. 88, died December 28, 2006.  Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County. Born March 20, 1918, in San Antonio, he was the son of Frank and Helena Anderson.  Mr. Anderson was a Veteran of World War II.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Foster.  Survivors include his wife Dorothy Childs Anderson; son, Frank L. Anderson, Jr., of Bryan, Texas; brother, Orin Anderson of Helotes, Texas.  Mangum Funeral Home.
SYBIL BRYCE
    Sybil Bryce, 86, of Houston died December 29, 2006.  Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Shelby County.  Mrs. Bryce was preceded in death by husband, James Adlee Bryce.  Survivors include son Robert Bryce of Houston, 
MERTIS LOUT ERVIN
     Mertis Lout Ervin, 84, of Center died January 1, 2007.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born November 17, 1922, she was the daughter of Jewel Lout and Minnie Grider Lout.  Ms. Ervin was preceded in death by her husband Ray Ervin.  Survivors include son, Charles R. Ervin of Kingwood; sister, Ruby Smith of San Augustine.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
PATSY BITTICK RICE
     Patsy Bittick Rice, 68, of Center died January 1, 2007 at her residence.  Burial was in Short Cemetery.   Born June 15, 1938, in Center, she was the daughter of Wylie and Iola Samford Bittick.  Ms. Rice was a retired Real Estate Escrow Officer.  She is preceded in death by Parents, Wylie Bittick and Lola Samford Bittick; brothers, Eugene Bittick and Ray Bittick; Sister JoAnn Bittick Daniel.  Survivors include sons, Shannon Rice and Mike Rice, both of Center; Brothers, Jasper Bittick of Keller, Ernest Wayne Bittick of Center and Mike Konzack of Spring; sister, Sandy Bittick Mead of Pasadena.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
IRENE MCCAULEY
     Irene McCauley, 93, of Center died January 1, 2007.  Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.  Born March 14, 1913, in Weaver, Texas, she was the daughter of George Chaney and Mary Cranford Chaney.  She was preceded in death husband, Henry McCauley; sons, Kenneth McCauley and Charles McCauley.  Survivors include son, Jimmy McCauley of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
JAMES EVERETT FIGLEY
     James Everett Figley, 80, of Tenaha died January 1, 2007.  Burial was in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Panola County.  Born May 21, 1926, in Gary, Texas, he was the son of George Elmer and Lois Elizabeth Rodgers Figley.  Mr. Figley served in the Navy during World War II.  He was preceded in death by daughter, Patricia Diane Figley; brother, Joel P. Figley.  Survivor include wife, Rece Figley of Tenaha; daughters, Janis Urban of Tenaha and Connie Johnson of Tenaha; Brother, Clifford Figley of Carthage.  Hawthorn Funeral Home, Carthage.
BARBARA JEANELLE TYER EDWARDS
     Barbara Jeanette Tyer Edwards, 83, died June 3, 2007, in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.  Born April 13, 1923, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Willie and Rachel Hughes Tyer.  Mrs. Edwards was a School Teacher.  She was preceded in death by her husband William Edwards.  Survivors include son, William Melvin Edwards of Timpson; daughters, Barbara Crawford of Nacogdoches and Belinda Solomon of Timpson; sister, Pauline Hayes of Houston.  Taylor Funeral Home.
SHIRLEY KERR BOWDEN
    Shirley Kerr Bowden, 79, died January 3, 2007.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born September 9, 1936, in Haslam, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Lucille Bolin Kerr.  Survivors include son, Tim Bowden of Joaquin; sister, Tommie J. Kerr of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
JAMES "PARKER" WHITE
     James "Parker" White, 90, of Center died January 5, 2007, in Center.  Burial was in Restland Cemetery, Tenaha.  Born October 1, 1916, he was the son of James and LeNora Parker White.  Mr. White was a veteran of World War II.  Survivors include a host of friends and relatives.  Mangum Funeral Home.
P. L. LOUT
     P. L. Lout, 82, of Nederland, Texas died January 3, 2007 in Beaumont, Texas.  Burial was in Oak Bluff Cemetery, Port Neches, Texas.  Born August 26, 1924, in Norflett, Arkansas, he was the son of Paddie Lee Lout, Sr., and Leona Fleming Lout.  Mr. Lout was retired from Texas and member of Sam Samford Masonic Lodge #149 of Center.  Survivors include wife, Barbara Lout of Nederland, Texas.  Daughters, Diana Bellard of Port Neches, Texas, Cathy Swearingen of Bridge City, Texas and Jimmie Durham of Center; son, David L. Lout of LaPort, Texas.  Sisters, Birdie Crocker of Center Johnnie Hutto  of Waskom, Texas, Laverne Smith of Port Arthur, Texas, Jean Jackson of Benton, Louisiana, Tommie Rohrer of Orangevale, California.
