The Shelby County Historical Society will hold a meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.at the Shelby County Museum.  The speaker will be David Swanzy.  The topic will be "LA SALLE EXPEDITION INTO SHELBY COUNTY (APRIL, 1687.)  We hope to see everyone there.

Ruby Grace Samford McMinn, 95, of Paxton, died January 5, 2012 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Ramah Cemetery, Tenaha, Texas. Ruby Grace McMinn was born August 7, 1916 to Allen and Rena Wilson Samford in the Paxton Community. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Hayward “Mac” McMinn; Sisters, Ruth Templin, Vina Spears, Mary Bachman, Dorothy Ping; Brother, Jeff Samford, Sr. Survivors include, Nieces, Jean Bowlin & husband, Jimmy of Paxton, Kay Knight & husband, Joe of Woods Community, Dorothy Pannell & husband, Monte of Chillicothe, Patty Vaughn & husband, Eddie of Plano; Nephews, Robert Templin & wife, Daphne of Appleby, Tom Spears & wife, JoAnn of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jeff Samford, Jr. & wife, Karen of Plano, Henry Samford & wife, Peggy of Plano.
