The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting January 21, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker this month will be Roy Blackshear. He will be speaking about the History of Bone Hill. Everyone is invited to come out and hear this program on local history that a lot of our citizens don't know.  NOTE THE CHANGE OF TIME.

Edwin Pate Hughes, 84, of Pasadena, Texas, died January 9, 2014, in Pasadena, Texas. Interment was in Blair Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on April 25, 1929, to Luther Adolphus and Maudie Dee Dillen Hughes, in Timpson, Texas. Pate graduated from Timpson High School in 1947. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother and sister-in-law, William Otis and Mary Evelyn Hughes; Niece, Lynda Kay Post; Great-nephew, Robert Hughes. She was born November 22, 1922 in Shelby County. .She was preceded in death by, Parents, Maggie and Truitt Powdrill; five sisters and six brothers.
