The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting January 21, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker this month will be Roy Blackshear. He will be speaking about the History of Bone Hill. Everyone is invited to come out and hear this program on local history that a lot of our citizens don't know.  NOTE THE CHANGE OF TIME.

She was born January 18, 1929 in Horace, Kansas to Ferrel C. and Elizabeth D. Huddleston Watlington. She was preceded in death by, Father, Ferrel Watlington; Mother & StepFather, Elizabeth & Jack Clark; Husband, Denny Adams; Brothers, Kenneth Watlington, Billy Earl Watlington, & Jackie Watlington & wife, Reba; Brother-in-law, Bill Adams. Edwin Pate Hughes, 84, of Pasadena, Texas, died January 9, 2014, in Pasadena, Texas. Interment was in Blair Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on April 25, 1929, to Luther Adolphus and Maudie Dee Dillen Hughes, in Timpson, Texas. Pate graduated from Timpson High School in 1947. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother and sister-in-law, William Otis and Mary Evelyn Hughes; Niece, Lynda Kay Post; Great-nephew, Robert Hughes. Survivors include, Wife, Florence Shirley Hughes; Daughters, Laura Dee Hughes Swartz & husband, Alan, of Flint, Texas, Martha Florence Hughes Silos & husband, Isaac Jr. of La Porte, Texas; Son, David Pate Hughes, of Pasadena, Texas.

GLENDA OWENS WALLACE
Glenda Owens Wallace, 92, of Center, died January 15, 2014 at Green Acres Nursing Home in Center. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born November 22, 1922 in Shelby County. .She was preceded in death by, Parents, Maggie and Truitt Powdrill; five sisters and six brothers. Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
