Alice Jo Hudson Hooker, 92, died January 11, 2023, in Bradenton, Florida.  She was born in Loudon, Tennessee on January 04, 1931, to Joseph H. Hudson and Velma Olivia Couch Hudson.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Dixon Dale Hooker; Half-brothers, Robert H. Hudson, Carl Randolph Hudson; Brothers-in-law, Jack Hodge, Charles D. Hooker, Joe B. Hooker, Olan Williamson; Sisters-in-law, Kathleen Hudson, Lois Hudson, Verdine Williamson, Marie Hooker, Marian Hooker, Gertrude Langdon.  Survivors include, Daughter, Linda Ruth & Eddie Chung of Bradenton, Florida; Sister, Doris Ann Hudson Hodge of Loudon, Tennessee.

 

 

 

 

MASHALL WAYNE HUGHES
Marshall Wayne Hughes, 57, of Joaquin, Texas, died January 18, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Interment was in Old Home Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on September 14, 1965, in Center, Texas, to Jack Monroe Hughes and Zannie (Barton) Hughes.  He was preceded in death by, Father, Jack Monroe Hughes; Brother, Henry Stephens; Father-in-law, Dale McCann; Mother-in-law, Susan McCann; Brother-in-law, Lil Dale McCann; Stepfather, Juan Romero.  Survivors include, Wife, Trina Hughes “Muffin”; Children, Darby Dale Hughes “Shoogy” and fiancé Colton Hogsett, Cralon Wayne Hughes “Boo”, Keaton McCann Hughes “Midget”, Braxton Tyler Hughes “Bac-Bac” and wife Mandy; Mother, Zannie Barton Hughes; Brother, Larry Jack Hughes & wife Tina; Sisters, Teresa Whiteside & husband Michael, Angela Hughes; Sister-in-law, Lisa Stephens; Brothers-in-law, Steven McCann & wife Jennifer, Marcus McCann.

WILLIAM LLOYD
William “Bill” Lloyd, 75, died at his home on January 10, 2023.  Interment will be at White’s Chapel Columbarium, Southlake, Texas.  He was born March 12, 1947 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Willie and Norvelle Lloyd.  William had a great passion for work and making things happen. This led him to a consulting position with Port-A-Cool, LLC in Center, Texas. He was vice president of sales with the parent company, General Shelters of Texas, then became President/CEO of Port-A-Cool, LLC until his retirement in January 2014. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Willie and Norvelle Lloyd; Brother, John Lloyd.  Survivors include, Wife, Carol; Children, Allyson (Charlie) Daigle, Jeff (Misti) Lloyd; Sisters, Willie (Benny) Merrell, Minnie (Lee) Dukes, Ruth (Jim) Ward, Cathy (David) Kulla.  William was a life sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Center Rotary Club and a Gold Level member of the Catherine Pinkston Roughriders Scholarship Foundation. He cooked with the Shelby County Cookers and was a life member of Texas Exes. He was a member of the HEB American Legion Post 379, the U.S. Army Historical Foundation and FOE Eagles 3719.

KATHY SUE BROOKS BURNS
Kathy Sue Brooks Burns, 69, of Joaquin, Texas, died January 19, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas.  Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.  She was born on November 9, 1953, in Carthage, Texas, to Barron and Tommie (Wall) Brooks. She graduated from Timpson High School in 1972. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, James and Barry Brooks; Sister, Jane Fulmer.  Survivors include, Husband, Lynn Burns; Daughters, Jessica Gatlin & husband, Stevie, Christina Watson & husband, Joey; Sons, Lance Burns, Logan Burns & wife, Ashley.

Glenda Jean (Granny) Polk, 87, of Timpson, Texas, died January 19, 2023. She was born on March 7, 1935 in Pennsboro, W.V. to Harry Truman and Arlene (Pyles) Lobaugh.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Jesse Polk; Brothers, William (Bill) of Las Vegas NV, Larry Lee of Pomfret, MD.; Sons Harry (Buck) Curtin of Lothian MD,  Robert Joe (Bobby) Marshall of Timpson, Tx.  Survivors include, Brother, Harry; Sister, Nancy Lobaugh of Waldorf MD; Children, Margaret Hardman of Harrisville WV, Sue Wolfe of Hughesville MD, Jimmy Curtin of Conway SC, Vi-Ellen (Cookie) Bowles of Mechanisville MD.

SANDRA GAIL EDDINS
Sandra Gail Eddins, 62, of Center, Texas, died January 20, 2023.  Interment was in Sholar Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born May 24, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas to Frank Hughes and Betty Crump Rippy.  She graduated from Joaquin high school and went on to receive her degree in nursing as an LVN from Panola College. Sandra was a nurse for the late Dr. Joe Hooker and Dr. Steve Oates.  She was preceded in death by, Father, Frank Hughes; Mother, Betty Rippy; Step-father, Charles Rippy; Brother Steve Hughes; Sisters, Pam Cunninham, Janie Hughes Wheless.  Survivors include, Husband, Bobbie Eddins; Sons, Adam Eddins & wife, Bridgett, Alan Eddins, Robert Eddins Jr. & wife, Anita; Sisters, Vicky Askew, Patricia Hughes, Brenda Ford & husband, Tommy, Martha Weaver, Robbie Rippy Fry; Brother, Michael Hughes; Sisters in laws, Faye Huffman, Dorothy Whiteman, Nancy Drew.

Cartwright; Sister,  Annie Mae Gardner.  Survivors include, Sons, Derrick Gardner & wife, Jeanie of Spring, Eric Gardner of Center; Daughter, Tiffanie Gardner; Sisters, Dorothy (Leo) McCollister of Tyler, Dorothy Lavearn Cartwright of Shelbyville.

Bobby Leon Ritter, 74, of Timpson, Texas, died January 24, 2023, in Timpson, Texas. He was born on January 13, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, to William Hoyt Ritter.  He was preceded in death by, Father, William Ritter; Brother, Worth Ritter; Surrogate mother, T9C McWilliams; in-laws, Bernice and Noble Hudman; Brother-in-law, Michael Nix.  Survivors include, Wife, Judy Hudman Ritter; Daughter, Ashley Ritter; Brother, Johnny Ritter & wife, Glynis; Brothers-in-law, Jeff Hudman & wife, Ann, Chris Hudman; Sisters-in-law, Johnnie Nix, Barbara Green & husband, Mike.

PAUL S. GRANT
Paul S. Grant, 87, died January 20, 2023 in Tyler, Texas.  He was born June 18, 1935, to Larry Grant and Iris Williams Grant. DONALD ALLEN TRUITT, JR.
Donald Allen Truitt Jr., 54, of New Orleans, Louisiana, formerly of Joaquin and Center, died January 23, 2023, in New Orleans.  He was born December 16, 1968, in Brian, Texas, to Donald Allen Truitt, Sr. and Anne Allice Truitt.  He attended Joaquin High School and graduated with the Joaquin High School class of 1988. He joined the United States Air Force and was an armament aircraft mechanic.  He was preceded in death by, Mother, Anne Moss; Stepmother, Gwen Truitt; Brother-in-law Buddy Boyett. Survivors include, Children, Cody Evans & wife Kaitlyn of Granite Quarry, North Carolina, Lanie Blackmon & husband Luke of Carthage, Lexie Truitt of Center, Averie Truitt of Center; Step-Children, Ashley Reynolds & Husband TC, Patrick Mills & wife Mikaela; Fiancé, Jennifer Billiot and son James Arkles; Father, Donald Allen Truitt Sr.; Brother, Andrew Truitt & wife Cheryl; Sisters, Kelly Boyett, Amanda Yesso.
