The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Mt. Zion CME Church located at 921 Martin Luther Drive, 3 blocks from Loop 500.  We will be celebrating the Westview Cemetery Texas Historical Marker Dedication.  Dr. Charles Tatum, Shelby County Historian and Author, will be the guest speaker.  Everyone is invited.

Bernice Adkison Hudman, 85, of Timpson, Texas, died February 2, 2014, at her home. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson. She was born August 24, 1928, in Center, Texas, to Elzie Carl Adkison and Dollie Hendricks Adkison. She graduated from Timpson High School in 1945. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Noble Hudman; 2 Brothers; 1 Sister. Survivors include, Sons, Jeff Hudman & wife, Ann of Longview, Texas, Chris Hudman of Athens, Texas; Daughters, Johnnie Nix of Mt. Enterprise, Barbara Green & husband, Mike of Timpson, Judy Ritter & husband, Bobby of Timpson; Brothers, Bobby Adkison & wife, Fay of Garrison, Texas, Charles Adkison of Houston; Sisters, Sue Cox of Nacogdoches, Barbara Lindsey of Stafford, Texas; Sister-in-law, Barbara Adkison of Alvin, Texas.

Rodney Windham, 56, of Center, died January 29, 2014 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born June 6, 1957 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Paul Delbert Windham and Lillian Walker. He was preceded in death by, Father, Paul Windham; Sisters, Layne Powledge, Phyllis Claybrook. Survivors include, Mother, Lillian Wallace of Center; Son, Dusty Windham & fiancÚ’ of Austin; Sisters, Daphne Fisher & husband, Mike of Shreveport, Pamela Walker & husband, Vernon of Galloway Community, Jennifer Windham of Grand Cane; Step-Mother, Gloria Windham of Grand Cane.

Kynleigh Michelle Fontenot, infant daughter of Ray Fontenot and Kara Chambliss Fontenot, of Huxley, died January 28, 2014 in Ft. Worth. She was born Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County. Survivors include, Parents, Ray and Kara Fontenot of Huxley; Brother, Harvy Fontenot of Huxley; Grandparents, Phillip and LeAnne Chambliss of Huxley; Grandmother, Sharon Fontenot of Fawil; Grandfather, George Fontenot of Jasper.

Lee Esco Rhame, 88, of Center, died February 4, 2014 at his residence. Interment was in Sardis Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born June 17, 1925 in Shelby County to Bernard Rhame and Charlsie Holt Rhame. Mr. Rhame served his country n the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Daughter, Cathy Hamlin Rhame; Brother, James Edward Rhame; Sister, Jean Peace.
