    Norma Huntington Stack, 97, died January 25, 2009. Burial was in Short Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born April 26, 1911 in Shelbyville to William Charles Huntington and Fleta Rosetta Samford Huntington. Preceded in death by, Husband, Maurice Zane Stack. Survivors include, Sons, Frank Huntington Stack of Columbia, Mo., Stephen Maurice Stack of Fort Collins, Colorado.

    Charles Edward Hughes, 80, of Timpson, Texas, died February 11, 2009 in Center. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson. Born April 5, 1928, in Timpson, Charles Hughes was the son of the late Edgar Lewis and Peggy Sapp Hughes. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He owned Hughes Boot and Saddle Shop in Timpson for 50+ years. Preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Thelma Oates Hughes; Brother, Bowden Hughes. Survivors include, Step son, Roger Martin of Pine Grove, LA; Step daughter, Jo Ann Cameron of Port Lavacca, Tx.; Sister Margie Baker of Conroe, Tx.

    Harold Edward Peek, 53, of Carthage, died February 12, 2009 in Carthage. Burial was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County. Harold was born October 22, 1955 in Joliet, Illinois to Hobart Harold Peek and Dorothy Dale Estes Peek. Preceded in death by, Father, Hobart Harold Peek; Daughter, Peggy Sue Peek. Survivors include, Mother: Dorothy Dale Estes Barnett of Carthage; Daughters, Loretta Wagner of Weatherford, Melissa Peek of Shreveport; Son, Thomas Peek of Shreveport; Sister, Teresa Powell of Zwolle, La; Brothers, John Thomas Peek of Haslam, James Davis of Ft. Worth, Jimmy Davis of Farmerville.

    L.C. “Huff” Hufferd, 95, of Center, died February 16, 2009 in Center. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center. He was born February 19, 1913, in Iola, Kansas, to Frank Elmer Hufferd and Lillie Mae Vancil Hufferd. He joined the army in 1943 and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He enlisted in the Army Ready Reserve in 1952 and was discharged in 1955. Survivors include, Wife, Ople Hufferd of Center; Son, Lowell “Top” Hufferd, Jr. of Center; Daughter, Nancy Hufferd Holmes of Bailey, Colorado.

    William “Bill” Fowler, Jr., 78, of Center, formerly of Shreveport, died February 17, 2009 in Center. At Mr. Fowler’s request, his body has been donated to science and there will be no services. He was born April 23, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William James Fowler, Sr. and Ann Fletcher Fowler. Mr. Fowler was a Korean Veteran, having served in both the Army and Air Force. Preceded in death by, Wife, Erin Kathleen Fowler. Survivors include, Twin Daughters, Charlotte Fowler of Center, formerly of Shreveport, Elizabeth Fowler of Shreveport.
