Wheeler Gin

Cotton was once the chief crop planted in Shelby County.  There were cotton gins located in the various sections of the county.  The N. B. "Coon" Wheeler Gin was in operation from 1900 to 1910, it was located between the Lamar and New Hope Communities in Shelby County.  Mr. Wheeler is standing on the porch, John McCauley is standing by the yoke of oxen.  The little boys are John Wheeler's Children.

JAMES LEE MCSWAIN
    James Lee McSwain, 79, died February 23, 2007 in Houston.   Burial was in Old Salem Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born March 24, 1927, in Shelby County, he was the son of James Roscoe McSwain and Evie Lee Dean McSwain.  Mr. McSwain served in the Army Air Corps.  He was preceded in death by Parents, James and Evie McSwain.   Survivors include wife Mildred McSwain of Center; Sons, Stevie McSwain , Ronnie McSwain, Michael McSwain, Kevin McSwain Kelly McSwain, all of Center; Daughters, Kristie Mchelle Tipton of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Kimber Ener of Friendship; Brother J. C. McSwain of Center; Sisters, Iva Joy Hribal and Mary Danley, both of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
HAZEL AMELIA DONALDSON
    Hazel Amelia Donaldson, 86, died February 27, 2007 in Timpson.  Burial was in Corinth Cemetery.  Ms. Donaldson is survived by son, John Ricks Ebertan of Timpson; daughters, Freeda Allen of Timpson and Celeste Jones of Porter; Sister, Ellie Quinn of Timpson.  Taylor Funeral Home.
KARA DEANN MILLER
    Kara Deann Miller, 17, of Center died February 24, 2007.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born November 22, 1989, in Nacogdoches County, she was the daughter of Matthew Miller and Barbara Montgomery Miller.  Ms. Miller was a student at Shelbyville High School.  Survivors include Parents, Matthew and Sheri Miller; Brothers, Derek Miller of Wichita Falls, Jared Miller, Joshua Miller and Matthew Miller, Jr., all of Center; Mother, Barbara Chometa of Crockett.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
MARY BETH BELROSE
    Mary Beth Belrose, 55, of Joaquin died February 27, 2007.  Burial was in Brandon-Shofner Cemetery.  Born September 28, 1951, in Nacogdoches, she was the daughter of Buster Oates and Louise Brimer Oates.  Ms. Belrose was preceded in death by her parents, Brother, Billy Wayne Carlise.   Survivors include Husband, Roe Belrose of Joaquin.; son, Kenneth Blankenship of Chireno and Tuffy Blankenship of Logansport, Wayne Belrose and Chris Belrose ; daughter, Cathy Myers; of Center Brothers, James Carlise and Charlie Carlise, both of Lufkin.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
DORA WEATHERFORD
    Dora Weatherford, 96, of Timpson died February 27, 2007.  Cremation was requested.  Survivors include Sons, Charles Eugene Weatherford of Waxahachie and Rodney O. Weatherford of Timpson.  Taylor Funeral Home.
