JOE NEIL WALLACE
Joe Neil Wallace, 91, of Center, died February 24, 2022, in Center.  Interment was in Truitt Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born July 28, 1930, in Center, to Flossie Pate and Frank Wallace. He served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was preceded in death by, Wife, Jimmye Elaine Wallace; Brothers, Bud Wallace, Jesse Frank Wallace; Sisters, Margurette “Reatie” Adams, LaVada Mae Tees, Marguette Oliver.  Survivors include, Daughters, Nancy Keeling & husband Jorge De La Cruz of Bullard, Elaine Carol Hall & husband, Gary Looney of Lufkin; Sisters, Mary Sue Hagler, Marsha Lou Askew.

KAME KAQUA DeSHANNA McCOLLISTER DAGLEY
Kame Kaqua DeShanna McCollister Dagley, 39, of Tenaha, died February 19, 2022 at a Shreveport hospital.  Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born October 17, 1982, to Mary McCollister.  She graduated from Tenaha High School.  She was a teacher at Tenaha ISD where she taught Special Education and was a basketball coach.  Survivors include, Husband, Calvin Dagley, Sr., of Tenaha; Children, I’Tianna, Arianna, Calvin Jr.; Mother, Mary McCollister of Tenaha; Sister, Katoria Giles of Center; Brothers, Ronald Giles of Nacogdoches, Tavoris Giles, Sr. (Summer) of Tenaha; Mother-in-law, Gloria.

ROBERT CHARLES HELANDER
Robert Charles Helander,81, died February 25th, 2022. He was born in Houston, Texas on August, 4th 1940 to Robert (Bob) H. and Allie Jane Chance Helander.  He served as a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1962 to 1968. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Mother and Father-in- law Jake and Valentine Theiler;  Sister- in- law Thelma Theiler.  Survivors include, Wife, Sandra (Sandie) Helander; Daughter, Susan Helander Snider &Monte Griffith of Tenaha, Texas; Son, Chance & Patti Helander of Crosby, Texas.

EULA LATHAN WHITE
Eula Lathan White, 104, died February 23, 2022, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.  Interment was in Westview Cemetery, Center, Texas.  She was born on February 10, 1918, in Shelby County to Tom Lathan and Beulah Moore Lathan.  Eula attended school in the Webb School District in the Africa Community and later transferred to Center Colored High School, graduating in 1937. Eula attended Butler College in Tyler, Texas, completing her studies at Texas College in Tyler, Texas from which she received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a minor in English. She pursued graduate studies at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas receiving her Master of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Administrative Supervision and Business. She pursued additional academic training at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and in California.  She began her teaching career in 1942 in the Webb School District, located in the Africa Community. Many of the county’s rural schools had only two or three classrooms. She taught grades 4, 5 and 6 in one classroom. Some years later the Webb School was consolidated with C. H. Daniels School. She also taught at East Liberty High School and Marian Anderson High School, completing her teaching career with Center ISD, retiring in 1980 after 34 years as an educator.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Marcellus White; Siblings, Annie Mae Roberts, John Boothe, Willie Mae Johnson, Rawsie Lister, T.O. Lathan.  Survivors include, Nieces, Sharon Polley, Dr. Veassa Johnson, Conchita Johnson Raatib; Surrogate son, Robert Brown; Surrogate daughter, Mary Smith.

ELBERT PORTER
Elbert Porter, 83, died February 25, 2022.  Interment was in Sardis Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born October 20, 1938, to John and Velma Porter.  He was preceded in death by, Wife, Wilda Porter; Parents; Siblings, Bernice Campbell, Ruby Kee Bolton, Helen Joy Dennis.  Survivors include, Daughter, Brenda and Ronny Hogue; Stepdaughters, Linda Whittlesey, Patsy & Elbert Jones; Adopted daughter, Gwen Hutto.

Roger “Disco Roger” Grace, 72, of Timpson, Texas, died February 24, 2022, at his residence.  Interment was in Smyrna Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born to the late Robert Grace and Elizabeth Griffin Grace.  Survivors include, Brothers, Horce Grace of Killeen, Texas, Kenneth Goodwin of Timpson, Texas, Keith Riggins of Timpson, Texas, Roy Riggins (Linda) of Carthage, Texas; Sisters, Theresa Pitts of Timpson, Texas, Remona Taylor (Carl Jr.) Houston, Texas, Lisa McClure (Aubrey) Timpson, Texas.

MARY TAYLOR GLASGOW
Mary Taylor Glasgow, 93, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Joaquin, Texas, died  September 15, 2020 in Tucson.   Interment was in Jackson Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born in Joaquin on May 9, 1927.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Dale Edward Glasgow.  Mary was a “Rosie the Riveter” who helped build Consolidated B-24 Bombers at a Dallas, Texas facility.  Survivors include, Children, James H. Glasgow, Mary Kathleen Glasgow, Neil Edward Glasgow, Michael Taylor Glasgow, Cynthia Walker Glasgow.
End of life care was entrusted to Angel Valley Funeral Home, Tucson, Arizona.

CALVIN OSBY
Calvin Osby, 58, of Timpson, died March 1, 2022 at his residence in Timpson.  Interment was in Smyrna Cemetery, Shelby County.  Survivors include, Daughters, Kelondia (Rahkeen) Coleman of Houston, Kekeia Osby of Houston; Sisters, Faye (Larry) Johnson of Timpson, Brenda Galston of Dallas; Brother, Alford Osby of Houston.

RUTH LaVERNE BALDWIN STEPHENS
Ruth LaVerne Baldwin Stephens, 91, died March 1, 2022. Interment was in Woods Cemetery, Panola County.  She was born July 28, 1930 in the Woods Post Office Community to Clarence and Bessie Lee Baldwin.  She graduated with the 1947 Class of Tenaha High School.  Ruth is preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Collis Stephens;   Collis’s parents, Clyde and Lena Stephens, his brothers and sisters, Brother in law, Dock Watson.  Survivors include, Fannie Baldwin Watson, Brenda and Gene Giles, Glenda and Charlie Leflett, Steven Watson, Danny and Marivel Mott.

GRADY EDWARD TYLER
Grady Edward Tyler, 71, of Center, died February 24, 2022, in Center.  Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born February 18, 1951, in Shelby County, to Dorothy Golden Tyler and Vertis Tyler.  He served his country in the United States Army as a firefighter and marksman.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Jimmy Tyler, Cecil Tyler, Captain Porter Tyler; Sisters, Minnie Pearl Tyler, Bell Kent, Grace Russell, Vergie Howard, Stella Louise Harris.  Survivors include, Wife, Rowena Tyler of Center; Sons, John Halstead Jr. & wife Karen of Shelbyville, Hugh Halstead of Center.

Obie Jones, 70, died February 27, 2022. Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County.   He was born August 4, 1951.  He was preceded in death by, Parents, Ocey Jones and Iva Nell Bright-Jones; Brother, Osie Lee Jones; Sister, Bonnie Jones-Whitehead.  Survivors include, Wife, Cynda Hooper-Jones; Sons, Keith Jones & wife Tasha of Joaquin, Brandon Jones & wife Amanda of West Monroe, Louisiana; Brothers, David Jones & wife Ann of Santa Fe, Texas, Rickey Jones & wife Melissa of Woden; Sister, Nelda Jones-Chandler & husband Tommy of Nacogdoches.
