OBITUARIES

JOE FIEDLER
Joe Fiedler, 96, formerly of Timpson, Texas, died March 28, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia.  Interment was in Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  He was born on September 13, 1927, in Wells, Texas, to Joseph Fiedler and Theresia (Maikish) Fiedler.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was preceded in death by wife, Gloria Bowlin Fiedler.  Survivors include, Son, Ben Fiedler & wife Robin; Daughter, Lesa Henning ; Sister, Mary Clemonds.

RUSSELL THOMAS JONES
Russell Thomas Jones, 45, of Joaquin, Texas, died March 25, 2024, in Joaquin, Texas. He was born on January 11, 1979, in Houston, Texas, to Robert Jones and Linda (Meacham) Jones.  Survivors include, Sons, Russell Jones, Jr., Colt Jones; Daughter, Hannah Jones; Parents, Robert and Linda Jones; Brothers, Buddy Jones & wife Lisa, Richard Jones & wife Rachel.

JOHNNY EARL PARKER
Johnny Earl Parker, 81, of Joaquin, died March 27, 2024, in Joaquin.  His wishes were to be cremated.  He was born March 3, 1943, in Shelby County, to Clarence Parker and Viola Estes Parker. HAZEL BRITTAIN
Hazel Brittain, 93, died March 28, 2024, at Garrison Nursing Home.  Interment was in Cedar Yard Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born to parents, Averett and Virginia Baggett on May 23, 1930, in Converse, Louisiana. She grew up in Shelby County and attended school in Center.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, T. C. “Pete” Brittain; Son, Travis Brittain; Brothers, Clifford and Ernest “Buddy” Baggett; Infant sister, Glennis Baggett.  Survivors include, Daughters, Barbara Richards & husband Charles; Sharon Brittain, daughter-in-law and mother of Jamey and Charley;
Cathy Brittain, former daughter-in-law and mother of Rodney, Nikki and Jill; Brother, Hulon Baggett and Sharon; Sisters, Ella Manshack, Joyce Noble.

JANICE LOUISE PORTER
Janice Louise Porter, 77, of Batesville, Arkansas, died April 3, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Interment will be in Sardis Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born July 27, 1947, in Center, to A. E. CHRISTINE FREDERICK BARRETT
Christine Frederick Barrett of Prairie Village, Kansas, died February 23, 2024, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by, Parents, Grant Jack Frederick and Mintie Laverne Grant Frederick of Blair, Texas; Husband, Richard Carroll Barrett; Sister, Abigail Dempsey; Son-in-law James Conditt. Survivors include, Daughters, Susan Barrett Conditt (Chris) of Springfield, Missouri, Sharon Barrett Conditt of Taylor, Texas, Shelley Barrett Parrett (Kurt) of Prairie Village, Kansas.; Sister, Kathleen Connell of Nacogdoches.

ABIGAIL DEMPSEY
Abigail Dempsey, 69, of Nacogdoches, died February 2, 2024 in Nacogdoches. She was born on August 11, 1954 in Timpson, Texas to Grant Jack Fredrick and Mintie Grant. She gradiated from Timpson High School.  Survivors include, Son, Jack Dave Dempsey and wife Shanna of Nacogdoches; Daughters, Amanda Dempsey of Nacogdoches, Sarah Aguilar and husband Jose of Nacogdoches; Sisters, Christine Barrett and Kathleen Connell.


WONNELL BROWN
Wonnell Brown, 96, of Lufkin, Texas, died March 18, 2024, in Lufkin, Texas.  Interment was in Short Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born on January 13, 1928, in Center, Texas, to Vonn Warr and Mecie Francis (Lucas) Warr.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, James Warr, Zelmo Warr & wife Elsie, Elroy Warr & wife Uenice, Harold Warr; Sister, Mae Warr.  Survivors include, Sons, Don Brown, Ronald Gammage & wife Vicki; Daughter, Donna Brown Lloyd; Brothers, Lloyd Warr, Tony Warr & wife Georgia; Half Sister, Francis Warr; Sisters-in-law, Joe Warr, Maudie Warr.

JESSIE JAMES COOKS, JR.
Jessie James Cooks, Jr., 65 of Tenaha, died March 23, 2024 at Harbor Hospice, Jasper, Texas.  Survivors include, Sister, Sherry Cooks of Center, Texas; Brothers, Jesse Lee Cooks of Tenaha, Jesse Earl Cooks of Tenaha, Jesse John Cooks of Tenaha.
Services are entrusted to Community Funeral Home, Center, Texas.

WINSTON ROGER WARR, JR.
Winston Roger Warr, Jr., a Center native, died at home in Tucson, Arizona on July 19, 2023. He was 87.  He was preceded in death by, Parents, Gladys Boothe Warr and Winston Roger Warr, Sr. (“Winkie”); Sisters, Patsy Warr, Diane Warr; Youngest child, Anna Warr.  Winston graduated from Center High School.  Survivors include, Wife, Diana; Children, Winston Roger Warr III (Renee), Carter Warr, Amy Warr.
The Warr family will inter Winston’s and Vickie’s ashes in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, April 13 at 10:30 am. There will be no service, but any friends wishing to join the family for an informal gathering are welcome at the gravesite.

VICKIE WARR
Vickie Warr, a Center native, died on December 27, 2023, at an assisted living community in Austin. She was 79.  She was preceded in death by, Parents, Gladys Boothe Warr and Winston Roger Warr, Sr. (“Winkie”); Sisters, Patsy Warr and Diane Warr; Brother, Winston Roger Warr, Jr.. Vickie graduated from Center High School. The Warr family will inter Winston’s and Vickie’s ashes in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, April 13 at 10:30 am. There will be no service, but any friends wishing to join the family for an informal gathering are welcome at the gravesite.

DONALD MAC BURNETT
Donald Mac Burnett, 76, died April 2, 2024 in the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, College Station.  Interment was in Shiloh Cemetery,  He was born September 9, 1947 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Lucille (Busby) and Ralph Burnett.  He graduated from Timpson High School in 1966.  He was a Vietnam Veteran, who proudly served our country in the Army and was a Purple Heart recipient.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, John Wayne Burnett, Charlie Burnett, and Kenneth Burnett. Survivors include, Wife, Janie Burnett of Bryan, Texas; Sons, Terry Burnett and Karen of Lucas, Texas, Troy Burnett and Darla Faulkner of Huntsville, Texas, Jeremy Pinner and Jamie of Brennam, Texas; Brothers, Bill Burnett, Louie Burnett, Glen Burnett; Sister, Jean Williams.

RANDALL SCOTT PRITCHETT
Randall Scott “Randy” Pritchett, 62, of Center, died April 3, 2024, in Center.  His wishes were to be cremated.  She was born December 18, 1961, in Center, to Larry Pritchett and Leah Moorman Guice. He graduated from Tenaha High School in 1980. He was preceded in death by, Mother, Leah Moorman Guice; Brother, Ronny Pritchett.  Survivors include, Son, Randall Wayne Pritchett & wife Heidi of Joaquin; Daughter, Geneva Lynn Pritchett; Sister, Martha Pritchett Rowe & husband Larry of Houston; Brother, Roy Pritchett & wife Renee’ of Houston; Stepfather, Mac Guice of Louisiana.
