Charles Franklin Burkhalter, 86, of Baytown, Texas, died March 25, 2022. Interment was in Asbury Chapel Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on May 3, 1935, in Center, Texas to Travis and Dora Mae (Halstead) Burkhalter.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Elsie Burkhalter; Daughter, Sondra Kay Lindsey; Brothers, James Aaron Burkhalter, Ronald Gilbert Burkhalter; Sister, Brenda Lynn Buckner.  Survivors include, Brothers, Dennis Ward Burkhalter & wife, Virginia Ann, Darrell Travis Burkhalter, Donald Eugene Burkhalter & wife, Teresa, Danny Michael Burkhalter & wife, Linda, Corey Dwayne Burkhalter & wife, Tina; Sister, Judy Ann Reynolds.

DEBORAH JEFFRESS JACKSON
Deborah Jeffress Jackson, 66, of Tenaha, Texas, died March 31, 2022 in Center, Texas.  She was born July 27, 1955 in Galveston, Texas to Wilma Ann Wilson and William Morris Jeffress. She was raised and schooled in Tenaha, Texas.  Deborah married James Harris Jackson in April of 1993 and he preceded her in death May 29, 2005. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Gary Lynn Jeffress.  Survivors include, Children,Son, David Fenton & wife Carri of Millsboro, Virginia; Daughter, Arin Fenton of Tenaha; Brother, Larry Jeffress and wife Judy of Woodlawn, Washington; Step-mother, Angie Jeffress of Tenaha.

Johnnie Lee Emerson, 70, of Joaquin, died April 3, 2022, in Nacogdoches.  Interment was in O. E. Price Cemetery, Logansport, Louisiana.  He was born September 13, 1951, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Lois C. Stephens and D.W. “Red” Emerson. He served his country in the United States Army.  He was preceded in death by, Wife, Ida Mae Emerson; Parents; Brother, Carl Wilton Emerson; Sister, Johnnie M. Stephens Brown; Brother-in-law, Oscar J. “Sonny Boy” Brown.  Survivors include, Daughter, Edith & husband Michael Mayes of Joaquin; Son, Bradley Emerson of Converse, Louisiana.

BRUCE MAY
Bruce May, 75, of Joaquin, Texas, died April 2, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Interment was in Adams Cemetery, Shelby County.  Marvin Bruce May, Sr. was born on July 24, 1946, in West Monroe, Louisiana to Prentice Osley and Myrtle Lucille Dalaney May.  Bruce served as a Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Army, retiring after 21 years as First Sergeant. During his service, he was stationed in many places including Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Daughter, Peggy Yvonne May; Brother, Wayne May; and in-laws, Ernest and Birdie Carter.  Survivors include, Wife, Connie Carter May; Sons, Marvin B. May, Jr. & wife Lori, Ronnie J. May & wife Rebecca, Pete May & wife Stephanie; Brother, Jimmy L.
