The Shelby County Historical Society would like to invite everyone to come by and see our new exhibit at the museum.  It includes several quilts donated to the museum over the years along with quilts and other items loaned to us for this exhibit.  We even have a quilt in the frame to be quilted, so come by and try your hand at quilting.

Barbara Brossette Gibson, 84, of Timpson, Texas, died April 10, 2013 in McComb, Mississippi. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson. She was born January 28, 1929, in Garrison, Texas, to Archie Benton Brossette and Sarah Billingsly Brossette. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, E. H. “Bink” Gibson; Sister, Gloria B. Rogers. Survivors include, Son, Benton Gibson & wife, Jane of McComb, Mississippi; Daughters, Hope Gibson of St. Croix, USVI, Robin Crawford & Duncan Connell of Timpson.

T. Deloyd Livingston, 88, of Center, died April 10, 2013 at Shelby Regional Medical Center in Center. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. GENE DEAL
Gene Deal, 77, of Del Norte, Colorado and longtime resident of Center, Texas, died April 11, 2013 at the Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte, Colorado. For the past 15 months, Gene had several strokes. Gene was a pharmacist for over 50 years and was loved by many friends. Jimmy Renfro, 69, of Center, died April 13, 2013 at his residence. Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born February 20, 1944 in Shelby County to Jody Lee Renfro and Aleta Williams Renfro. FLORENCE REEH
Florence “Noogen” Reeh, 88, of Carthage, Texas, died April 14, 2013 at Carthage Healthcare Center. Interment was in Turner Branch Cemetery, Spurger, Texas. Florence Faye Stone Reeh, nicknamed “Noogen”, was born April 27, 1924, in Kirbyville, Texas to James Eli and Nancy Phillips Stone. She and her husband, Douglas purchased the Timpson & Tenaha News in 1993 and worked as co-publishers and she as the editor. Three years later, in 1996, they purchased a second paper in Logansport and Joaquin and ran both papers until September 2000 when the Logansport Joaquin Tribune was sold. She enjoyed attending many events in Timpson and Tenaha at the civic arenas and the schools. The Reeh’s were grateful for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people in Shelby County with whom they formed a warm friendship and bond. She retired only after selling the paper in 2010. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husbands, Earnest Tucker, Douglas Reeh; Brothers, Ben Jack Kelley, Claude Stone; Sisters, Frances Kelly Reeves, Essie Stone Hicks. George Kevin Hathorn, 56, of Garland, Texas, died April 10, 2013 in his home. Kevin was born in Center, Texas March 6, 1957 to Margaret Smith Hathorn and Carl M. Hathorn, Jr. He was preceded in death by, Brother, Carl Marcus Hathorn.
