MELBA SMITH
Melba Smith, 83, of Carthage, died April 15, 2018, in Carthage. Interment was in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. Melba Faye Lovell Smith was born on Nov. 9, 1934, in Shelby County to Bud and Lillie Mae Clopton Lovell. She graduated from Center High School with the class of 1952. She was also preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Dorothy Taylor & husband, John, Mary Lee Killen & husband, George; Brothers, Howard L. Lovell, J. B. Lovell & wife, Nettie. Survivors include, Sons, Frank H. Smith & wife, Patsy of Salida Colorado, Michael E. “Smokey” Smith & wife, Judy of Carthage.

WILLIAM DOYLE MILLICAN
William Doyle Millican, 73, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, died April 13, 2018. He was born on October 6, 1944 in Stamps, Arkansas to Doris Marie Owen Millican & Doyle Rolan Millican. Bill was known to many as Coach Millican, having coached football at Brinkley High School, Earle High School, and Center High School in Texas He was retired from the United States Armed Services, having served a combined 38 years in the Army, Navy, and Air Force, with a retired rank of Sergeant First Class. His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He was preceded in death by, Father, Doyle Millican; Son, Michael Don Millican.  Survivors include, Wife, Donna Cary Millican; Mother, Doris Marie Owen Millican; Children, Wayne Millican & wife, Angie of Cabot, Lin Schuster & husband, Marshall “Dee” of Little Rock, Shannon Bloesch & husband, Mike of Houston, Texas, Tonya Millican (wife of the late Michael Millican) of Cabot. Siblings, Linda & Mokey Sparrow, Polly & Jerry Don Millican, Linda & Mike Couch.

GERTRUDE ROBERTS JENKINS
Gertrude Roberts Jenkins, 104, of Marshall, originally from Center, Texas, died April 11, 2018 in Cedar Hill, Texas. Survivors include, Son, Billy Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas; grandkids; great-grandkids; other relatives and friends.

MARDELL SHOFNER WORTHEY
Mardell Shofner Worthey, 80, of Houston, died April 16, 2018, in Houston. Interment was in Holly Springs Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born March 17, 1938, in Shelby County, to Oscar B. Shofner and Ella Ervin Shofner. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Mary Elizabeth Shofner, Margie Payne; Brothers, Oscar “Shorty” Shofner, Edward “Sonny” Shofner, J. B. Shofner, Oliver Shofner. Survivors include, Husband, Virgil “Red” Worthey of Houston, Texas; Daughter, Christy Barker and Gregory Steel of New Port, Gwent, Wales; Stepdaughters, Bronagh Cleary of Rathcormack, County Cork, Ireland, Sharon Grantham of Florida; Stepsons, Dennis McDonald of Huffman, Texas, Dwayne Worthey of Florida.

STANLEY DUNNING
Stanley Dunning, 90, of Tenaha, Texas, died April 16, 2018 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Ramah Cemetery, Tenaha. He was born on June 7, 1927 in Gilbert Pennsylvania, to Stanley R. Dunning and Carrie Mae Everett Dunning. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Siblings, Everett, Gary and Elda Dunning. Stanley served as a merchant marine and was in the US Coast Guard during the Korean conflict. Survivors include, Family friends: Carl and Vickie Jernigan of Tenaha, Joshua and Brooke Jernigan of Tenaha and their daughter, Sadie, Lauren Jernigan and Sean Smith of Appleby, Angela Paxton of Greenville, South Carolina, Sharon Risinger and her children: Lee and Misty Gibbs, Jenny Hicks, Jamie Gray and their families all of Tenaha, Roger Paxton of Orange, Alan and Diana Tinsley of Port Neches, Barry and Lois Forsyth and their children Brittany, Max, Cypress and Marissa all of Orange, Adam and Pam Hall of Beaumont, Keith and Jenny Forsyth of Mauriceville.
