Shelby County Museum is preparing for an exhibit to honor Shelby County Current Military and Veterans of Korean, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan.  If you or have a relative that is serving in the Military.  Please supply a photo and info, (rank, parents/spouse name where served,  preferably in uniform and email, bring by or snail mail to the museum.   The exhibit will open on Friday May 26,  before Memorial Day.

Bertha Lee Williams, her last name was Williamson, lost her leg in an auto accident in 1943 near Jasper, Texas. She lived many more years and is buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, Jasper, Texas.

Obituaries

GLADYS SCHILLINGS
    Gladys Schillings, 86,, of Center died May 5, 2006.  Burial was in Holly Springs Cemetery.  Born March 24, 1920, in Hemphill, she was the daughter of Vestal Metcalf and Mertie Burgess Metcalf.  Mrs. Schillings was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clarence Metcalf.  Survivors include son, Roy Weeks of Center; daughter Carolyn Jackson of Shelbyville; stepdaughter, Frances Fountain of Lufkin. Watson and Sons Funeral Home.
SHIRLEY ANN NETHERY
    Shirley Ann Nethery, 61, of Center died May 8, 2006.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born August 7, 1947, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Ernest Warr and Liddle Luman Warr.  Mrs. Nethery was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Velt Warr, E. C. Warr, L. C. Warr, Bobby Ray Warr and Freddie Warr.  Survivors include her husband, Dr. J. N. Nethery of Center; sons, Michael Neal Nethery of Center and Patrick Neal Nethery of Center; sister, Ruby Smith of Center.  Watson and Sons Funeral Home.
