Jimmy Carter, 93, of Center, died May 29, 2009 in Center. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center. Texas. He was born September 14, 1915 in Palestine, Texas to Nick and Alma Carter. He served in the infantry during World War II in France, starting at Omaha Beach, then in Paris where his company paraded down the Champ DeChelis, then Northern France and into Belgium, Luxembourg and into Germany. He earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star medals. He is preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Treva Carter; Daughter, Adrian Carter; Son, J.D. Carter, II; Brothers, Nick Carter Jr., Earl Carter. Mary Ann “Judy” Hand, 77, of Huxley formerly of Amarillo, died May 30, 2009 in Shreveport, LA. Burial was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County.
