WALTER COLUMBUS CHADWICK
Walter Columbus Chadwick , 87, of Gary, Texas, died June 5, 2013 in Gary. Interment will be in County Line Cemetery, Rusk County. He was born November 1, 1925, in Long Branch, Texas to Donnie Don Chadwick and Mabel Lake Chadwick. Walter served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Nadine Keating Chardwick; Son, Dwight Chadwick; Daughter, Lucretia Essery; Brothers, Doyle Chadwick, Billy Chadwick; Sisters, Lois Peveto, Christine Compton. WILLIAM RILEY BOYD
William Riley “W.R., Bill” Boyd, 96, of Center, died June 1, 2013. Interment was in Cushing Community Cemetery, Cushing, Texas. Bill was born February 24, 1917 in Houston, Mississippi. In 1945, W. R. Boyd, Inc. organized with Bill being the President and Controlling Stockholder. Two years later, the corporation qualified as a prime contractor under the exacting standards of the Texas Highway Department and by 1967 Bill was the sole stockholder in the company. W.R. Boyd was elected president of the Texas Highway-Heavy Branch of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) in 1969. This organization represents the highway and heavy contractors of Texas and at that time was one of the five largest contractor associations in the United States. At that time, approximately 95% of the highway construction in Texas was performed by this group of contractors. This achievement would go down as the pinnacle of a 73 year career. W.R. Boyd was a member of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce and the Center Chamber of Commerce. A Shriner, he was a charter member of Sharon Temple, Tyler. Bill was a “Southern Gentlemen” and gracious host to all, a true celebrant of life who lived every day with passion. Survivors include, Wife of 70 years, Tim Boyd of Cushing; Daughter, Yancy Bradford & husband, George of Fort Worth.

Bonnie Garner, 78, of Joaquin, died May 28, 2013 in Center. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born December 17, 1934 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Oplis Adam West and Ella Williams West. Rhodes, 77, of Kilgore died May 29, 2013 in Kilgore.  Interment was in Danville Cemetery.  He was born November 8, 1935 in Nacogdoches.  Mr. Rhodes was a graduate of Center High School.  He was preceded in death by his son, Mitch Rhodes.  Survivors include, Wife, Doyline Rhodes of Kilgore; Son, Alan Rhodes of Kilgore; Sister, Pat Vaughn of Longview.
