OBITUARIES

 

TRAVIS BRITTAIN
Travis Brittain, 74, of Center, died June 8, 2023, in Garrison.  Interment was in Cedar Yard Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born to T.C. “Pete” and Hazel Baggett Brittain on July 11, 1948 in Center Texas. He graduated from Shelbyville High in 1966. He was preceded in death by, Sons, Rodney Brittain, Kenny Brittain; Father, T.C “Pete” Brittain.  Survivors include, Wife, Sharon Brittain; Children, Jamey Brittain & Courtney, Charley Brittain & Kailyn, Nikki Brittain, Jill Jefferson & Keith, Josh Cooper & Chelsea; Mother, Hazel Brittain; Sister, Barbara & Charles Richards; Brother, Thomas Mendez.

Services under the direction of Watson and Sons Funeral Home, Center, Texas.

 

 

 

 

LENWARD GENE RAINES
Lenward Gene Raines, known as Buck to family and friends, 77, died June 12, 2023 at Nacogdoches Medical Center.  Interment was in Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Buck was born at home in the Sand Flats community outside of Garrison on July 28, 1945, to Dollie and John Henry Raines, Sr.  He graduated from Timpson High School in 1963.  He served his country in the Army from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam War.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Lorene Chandler, Lerlene Raines; Brother, John Henry Raines, Jr.  Survivors include, Wife, Judy Raines; Sons, John Elvis & wife Angela, Andy Gene & wife Rachel McFadden, Marc Lynn, Michael Ben & wife Rachel Black.
Services are under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas.

 

 


COLLETTE L. SWINDLE
Collette L. Swindle, 46, of Center, died June 7, 2023, in Center.  Interment will be in Thompson Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born July 22, 1976, to Sharon Rene Harris Swindle and Ronnie Swindle.  She was preceded in death by her mother.  Survivors include, Son, Khyle Daniels of Center; Daughter, Taigan Williams of Center; Sisters, Brandy Bennett of Nacogdoches, LaTundra Sanders of Houston; Brothers, Michael Moore of Kyle, Nicholas Bennett of Logansport, Louisiana; Father, Robert Earl Thomas of Center.

JAMES LEE WHITSEY
James Lee Whitsey “Sunny Man”, 68, of Center, Texas, died Focus Care Nursing Facility on Monday, June 12, 2023. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery, Center.  He was born to Mary Whitsey Gardner and James L. Gardner in Galveston, Texas on August 26, 1954.  Survivors include, Daughter, Flessia Ann Whitsey (Zachary Collins). Flessia and Zachary are the parents of two (2) daughters, Zamaya, and ZaKala Collins. They all reside in Houston, Texas; Daughter, Crystal Benton, who is the daughter of Ann Benton. Crystal has three (3) sons, JaChristopher, KeJuan and JaBryson. They all reside in Dallas, Texas; Brothers, Junior C. Whitsey, James Lowe, Samuel Gardner, Lamillican Johnson (Keisha), Tristan Gardner, Renard Gardner, Mark Hubbard, Eshawn Randle; Sisters, Sherian Daniels of Nacogdoches, Joann Batist (Milton) of Houston, Annie Whitsey Watts (Maurice) of San Augustine, Sabrina Williams of Beaumont, Felisha Gardner of Center, Bonnie Hubbard, Brenda Johnson of Nacogdoches; A special Sister-in-law, Delories Johnson of Center.
