The Timpson class of 1967 is having a Class Reunion on July 4th during the Frontier Days activities. Please plan to meet at the Parade at 10:00 am in front of the Timpson/Tenaha News Office on the Square. After everyone is there, we will decide what to do from there. Not much time so pass the word around so we can get all our classmates there!!!!

The annual Homecoming and Memorial Day services for the Newburn Cemetery will be held on Saturday June 27, 2009 about 10:00 in the morning.  Everyone that has an interest in the cemetery or those buried there is invited to come and join us for our service and dinner on the grounds.


Dorothy Louise Tinsley Garrison, 75, of Mauriceville, formerly of Center, died April 25, 2009. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. She was born August 17, 1933 in Center, to John and Willie Tinsley. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, Ronnie Garrison; Brother, J. T. Tinsley; Sister, Shirley Tucker. Survivors include, Husband, Melvin Homer Garrison of Mauriceville; Children, Michael Garrison and wife, Betty of Orange, Gary Garrison of New York, N. Y.; Daughter-in-law, Susan Garrison; Sister, Christie Breaux and husband, Johnny of Orange; Brother, Roy Tinsley of Longview. Dorothy’s spirit and gentle soul were the embodiment for a particular phrase that she loved “Sit long – talk much.”

Helen Hardy, 90, of Center, died June 13, 2009 in Center. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center. She was born June 10, 1919 in Prescott, Arkansas to Cleve Stivers and Edith Newth Stivers. She was preceded in death by, Husband, Price Ramsey; Husband, A. L. “Gus” Hardy. Survivors include, Children,

Aubrey A. Nations, 96, of Orange, died June 8, 2009 in Orange. Burial was in Lone Cedar Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born June 1, 1913 in Bulloch County, Ga. To Alexander Terrel Nations and Miriam Catherine Godbee Nations. He was preceded in death by, Wife, Vertie Nations; Sons, John E. Nations, Spencer Alex Nations; Sister, Gladys Hollingsworth. Survivors include, Daughter, Marta Katherine Frazier and husband, James W., of Orange.

Oscar Bell, Sr., 88, died May 28, 2009. Burial was in Mt. Gillion Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born March 29, 1921 in Shelby County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Survivors include, Sister, Angel Jennings of Longview; Brother, Odell Bell of Detroit, Michigan; Son, Oscar Bell, Jr. of Center.

W. M. Cartwright, 76, died May 27, 2009. Burial was in Bennett Chapel Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born May 18, 1933 to Lewis and Lucy Cartwright. He was preceded in death by, Children, Billy Cartwright, Willie Cartwright, Robert Cartwright. Survivors include, Wife, Joyce Ann Cartwright; Son, Randy Cartwright and wife, Tomeika.

David Christopher Hall Jr., 34, of Center, died June 11, 2009, in Center. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park, Carthage. Christopher was born March 18, 1975 in Ft. Worth to David Christopher Hall Sr.and Joan Gayle Moon Hall. He was preceded in death by, Mother, Joan Gayle Thompson. Survivors include, Wife, Leiah Hall of Center; Father, David C. Hall of Ft. Worth; Sister, StephanieTiller and husband Frank of Longview; Step-father, J.D. Thompson of Tenaha; Step-brother, Jay Thompson.
