                 .Newburn Cemetery Homecoming and Memorial Day

The Annual Newburn Cemetery Homecoming and Memorial Day will be held at the Newburn Cemetery on Saturday, June 30, 2007 from about 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 P. M.   Everyone with an interest in the cemetery is invited to come and enjoy the fellowship with us.

 


 Homecoming is September 28 - 29, For Center High School

Obituaries
WILMA WOOLLEY
    Wilma Woolley, 86, died June 15, 2007, in Austin, Texas.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Shelby County.  She was born November 11, 1920.  Ms. Woolley was preceded in death by Husband Roy Rockwell Woolley.  She was a Teacher in Center Schools.  Survivors include Daughter, Susan Tollers of Austin.  Mangum Funeral Home.
TAMMY RASH MIKESH
    Tammy Rash Mikesh, 47, of Huxley, died June 15, 2007 in Center.  Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine.  Born September 8, 1960, she was the daughter of Charles Rash and Ann Gregston Rash.  She was preceded in death by Father, Charles Rash, Sr. and Brother, Charles Rash, Jr.  Ms. Mikesh was a substitute teach for the Center School District.  Survivors include Husband Marty Mikesh of Huxley; Daughter, Melisa Moore of Beaumont, Texas; Stepsons Phillip Mikesh of Huxley and Brian Mikesh of Kerrville, Texas;  Mother, Ann Reeves of Huxley; Brother, Larry Rash of Huxley and Derrick Rash of Huxley; Stepdaughter, Ashley Booker of Timpson; Cecil Rash of Minnesota.  Watson and Sons Funeral Home.
NEVA GREEN FURLOW
    Neva Green Furlow, 96, of Homer, Louisiana, formerly of Huxley died June 16, 2007.  Burial was in Strong Cemetery.  She was born November 11, 1911.  She was the daughter of Robert Green and Evie Sample Green.  Mrs. Furlow was preceded in death by Husband, Garland Furlow.   Survivors include Sons, Carl Furlow of Temple, Buck Furlow of Keithville, Louisiana and Dan Furlow of Homer, Louisiana; Daughter, Nell Jobe Cassatt of Huxley. Mangum Funeral Home.
BERT GAFFORD
    Bert Gafford, 88, of Center, died June 16, 2007 in Center.  Burial was in Newburn Cemetery. Born June 6, 1919, he was the son of John Gafford and Lucretia Payne Gafford.    Survivors include Wife, Elora Murphree Gafford of Center; Daughter, Dorice Ramsey of The Woodlands; Son, John Gafford of Lawton, Oklahoma.  Mangum Funeral Home.
WILLIAM  "FESTUS"  SMITH
    William "Vestus" Smith, 90, died June 16, 2007 in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Ramah Cemetery.  Born September 9, 1916, he was the son of Joe and Ola Norman Smith.  Mr. Smith served in the US Army 7th Mounted Calvary during WWII.  He had worked for the Texas Highway Department.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter and sister Limmie Ola Anderson.  Survivors include wife, Winnie Smith of Tenaha; Daughter  Rosa Phipps of Tenaha; Sister,Martha Jo Seago of Orange. FAYE TWOMEY PEDDY  (Edited from the Tyler Newspaper.)
    Faye Twomey Peddy, 80, of Tenaha died January 19, 2007, in Tyler.  Burial was in Ramah Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born October 3, 1926, in Carthage, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Annie Gomilion Twomey.  Ms. Peddy was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Tenaha.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include Husband, Julian Lee Peddy of Tenaha; Daughters, Patricia Hubbard of Lindale, Carol Ann Kilpatrick of Tenaha; Son, Bob Peddy of Tyler.  Watson and Sons Funeral Home.
MARY REBECCA "REBA" CHILDS
    Mary Rebecca "Reba" Childs, 90, of Timpson died June 17, 2007 in Center.  Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.  Born October 16, 1916, in Crockett, she was the daughter of Louis and Pallie Green Story.  Ms. Childs was a Homemaker  She was preceded in death by Husband John Franklin Childs.  Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Williams of Joaquin; Sons, John H. Childs of Timpson and Sam H. Childs of Stoneypoint, North Carolina; Brother, Pete Story of Canyon Lake.  Taylor Funeral Home/Laird Funeral Home.
JANE NORTHROP
    Jane Northrop, 64, of Houston died June 19, 2007 in Houston.  Burial was in Patroon Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born November 5, 1942, she was the daughter of Nelson and Mildred Jamison Palmer.  Ms. Northrop was preceded in death by Father, Nelson Palmer.  She was employed with Pure Energy and sold Real Estate.  Survivors include Son, Ronnie Northrop of Houston; Mother, Mildred Burney of Fulshear; Sister, Julie Bray of Fulshuear.  Mangum Funeral Home.
GERTRUD PHILLIPS
    Gertrud Phillips, 93, of Center died June 20, 2007 at her residence.  Cremation was requested.  Born November 17, 1914, in Hamburg, Germany, she was the daughter of Paul Buguhan and Anna Timm Buguhan.  Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her Husband, George Phillips.  Survivors include a host of friends.  Mangum Funeral Home.
JOHNNY WAYNE OLIVER
    Johnny Wayne Oliver, 55, of Center, died November 11, 1951 in Shelby County.  Burial was in Buckner Cemetery.  Born November 10, 1951, in Shelby County, He was the son of Austin Willis Oliver and Hazel Buckner Oliver.  Survivors include Brothers, Marvin Willis Oliver and Wardlow Woodrow Oliver, both of Center; Sister, Linda Elizabeth Noble of Center.  Watson and Sons Funeral Home.
