Claude M. Wilkerson, born 02/11/1922, died 05/08/1942.  Has been added to Old Union Cemetery.  Lost with the aircraft carrier Lexington in the Coral Sea Battle.

My name is Kimberly L Holman.  Lovin Holman is my great grandmother.  According to my grandmother, Lovin Holman passed away a week before Christmas in 1953 and was laid to rest on Christmas day, which she believes to be a Friday.  If you have any further information pertaining to Lovin Holman or Clave Holman please send it to kholman@gt.rr.com.  We would greatly appreciate any small bit of information from the past. RAY BELROSE---Ray Belrose, 83, of Center, died August 26, 2002 at his residence.  Burial was in Brandon Memorial Cemetery.  Born March 8, 1919, in Shelby County, he was the son of Lloyd Carlton and Cecil Willoughby Belrose.   Survivors include his wife Zannie Gay Belrose, of Center; daughter LaNell Rash, Lillian Shofner, Martha Rash and Melba Rodgers, all of Center and Kathryn Schillings of Shelbyville; sons, Lonnie Belrose, Lester Belrose and Leo Belrose, all of Center; brothers, Roe Belrose of Joaquin and J.E. Belrose of Center.; sisters, Heresy Porter and Lorene Belrose, both of Center.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
LAVADA OATES---Lavada Oates, 88, of Shelbyville, Patroon Community, died August 24, 2002 at Holiday Nursing Center.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born February 4, 1914 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Marion and Minnie Gann.  She was married to Steve W. Oates and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include her son, Harold Donece Oates of Center and  Daryl Wade Oates of Humble; brother Jewell Gann of Ore City and sister Bessie Norton of Patroon.  Mangum Funeral Home.
EDITH WHITTON---Edith Whitton, 56, of Center, died August 24, 2002 in Center. Burial was in White Rock Cemetery.  She was born October 12, 1946 in Jasper County.  She was married to John T. Whitton, and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Worsham of Center; son, Jeremy Whitton of Center; father, J.E. Ozan of Buna; brothers, Butch Henry of Center and Mike Ozan of Woodville; sisters, Debbie Rowley of Kirbyville, Nelda Vann of Jasper and Melba Fowler of Call.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
BEULAH M. MCCANN HARRIS--- Buelah Harris, 85, of Joaquin, died August 24, 2002, in Center.  Burial was in Old Home Cemetery.  Born May 30, 1917, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of A.O. and Maggie Willis McCann.  She was married to Curtis Harris, and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include daughters, Betty Garner of Silver City, New Mexico and Christine Tibbetts of Beaumont; sister, Viola Welch of San Antonio.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
FRED H. MAGNESS---Fred Magness, 87, of the Weaver Community, died August 28, 2002 in Nacogdoches. Burial was in Weaver Cemetery.  Born December 11, 1914, in Shelby County, he was the son of William Andrew and Elizabeth Clark Magness.  Survivors include his wife, Inez Bates Magness of Timpson; son, William Magness of Center; daughters, Janelle Barrett of Bedford, Kay Brunt of College Station, Kathy Grisby of Timpson and Kristi DeNardo of Hixson, Tennessee.  Taylor Funeral Home.
MAYDELLE BURNS---Maydelle Burns, 89, of Timpson, died August 27, 2002 in Timpson.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.   Born January 14, 1913, in Timpson, she was the daughter of Albert F. and Myra Eugenia Blankenship Burns.  Survivors include her sister, Doris Burns of Timpson   Taylor Funeral Home.
DOUGLAS CORY MCGEHEE---Douglas McGehee, 23, died August 28, 2002 in Dallas.  Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Shelby County.   Born October 14, 1978 in Longview, he was the son of Richard and Donna McCauley McGehee.  He is survived by his parents, Richard and Donna McGehee; brother Bryan; sister, Kristin.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
HENRY MOORE---Henry Moore, 38, died August 19, 2002.  Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.  Born January 29, 1964 in Center, he was the son of Henry and Thena Moore.  Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his father, Henry Moore; brother, Henry Joe Moore.  He is survived by his mother, Thena M. Moore of Tenaha; brothers, Gillis Earl of Timpson and PlesantDewayne Moore of Tenaha; sisters, Pearl Bizzell of Kaufman and Thelma Jean Moore of Tenaha.  Hicks Mortuary.
LEONARD WALTER PURIFOY---Leonard Purifoy, 92, of Timpson, died August 28, 2002 in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Corinth Cemetery in Timpson.  Born December 6, 1909, he was the son of Samuel Walter and Maggie Hensley Purifoy.  Mr. Purifoy is survived by his wife Gertie Wilson Purifoy of Timpson; son, Mickey Purifoy; daughter Shirley Pinkston of Salado; brother, Samuel Willis Purifoy of Coldspring; sisters, Nannie Mae Fondren of Odessa and Blain Brown of Arkansas.  Taylor Funeral Home.
