New Stuff/Additions/Corrections

        

The King-Oats Cemetery, aka Oates at Day School, will have a Historic Texas Cemetery Medallion erected on October 13, 2007.  There will be a meeting at 9:30am at the historic Shelby County Courthouse Courtroom.  At 1:30pm attendees will meet at the King-Oats cemetery for the installation of the Medallion.  For additional information email Reece Stanley at  rstanley@ndemand.com

   The Annual W. J. Connell reunion will be held on Sunday September 2, 2007 in the hospitality room of the Texas State Bank, Haslam, Texas. The doors will open at 10:30am. Bring a covered dish and lots of memories! Drinks and plate will be provided. If you can come, we are making a Connell Cookbook and all family recipes or stories will be appreciated.         Looking for information regarding LOUIS POWELL that married ELIZA BROWN in Shelby Co., TX. LOUIS was born abt.1814 and died 18 Jul 1851. ELIZA was born abt.1818. They had four children; 1).LOUIS CLAY POWELL b.02 Aug. 1842 AL.  2).LOUIS BLAKE POWELL b.1845 AL.d.12 Feb.1917 Hico,TX.   3).SARAH HENRETTA POWELL b.1847 AL.4). WILLIAM EDWARD"BUD"POWELL b.03Apr 1849 d.03 Apr 1929 Fort Worth,TX.   After Louis died, Eliza married THOMAS PECK a widower. Obituaries
BOBBI CARVER
    Bobbi Carver, 60, of Huxley, died August 23, 2007 in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Burial was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born August 15, 1947, in Eunice, Louisiana to O. J. and Beatrice Doga Tate.  Ms Carver was preceded in death by Father, O. J. Tate; Sister, Wanda Carter; and Brother, Wayne Tate.  Survivors include Husband, Lee Carver of Huxley; Sons, Tracy Carver and Todd Carver, both of Center; Daughters, Katrina Carver Kirlin of Bellevue, Nebraska and Kathy Carver Bryan of Killen, Texas; Mother, Beatrice Tate of Shreveport, Louisiana; Sister, Helen Rassmussen of Shreveport, Louisiana.  Mangum Funeral Home.
HILTON M. TAYLOR
    Hilton M. Taylor, 83, of Dallas died August 29, 2007.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born June 29, 1924, in Center.  Mr. Taylor was an Air Force Veteran of WWII and a Dallas County Sheriff.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Helen Lawson Taylor.  Survivors include children, Karen Ann Conley, Marcy Lea Selby, Tina Bragg and Michael Taylor.
BETH ANN JARVIS
    Beth Ann Jarvis, 59, of Center died August 30, 2007 in Lufkin.  Burial was in Old Home Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born November 22, 1947, she was the daughter of Freddy and Ruby Davis Shelton.  Ms. Jarvis was a Homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents and Sons, Freddy Jarvis and Edward Wayne Jarvis.  Survivors include Husband, John Jarvis of Center; Sons, Matthew Jarvis of Center and John Jarvis, Jr. of Houston; Brothers, Donald Shelton of Pasadena and James Shelton of Center; Sisters, Frances Walker of Arizona and Ruby Porter of Porter.  Mangum Funeral Home.
