New Stuff/Additions/Corrections

        

            The King-Oats Cemetery, aka Oates at Day School, will have a Historic Texas Cemetery Medallion erected on October 13, 2007.  There will be a meeting at 9:30am at the historic Shelby County Courthouse Courtroom.  At 1:30pm attendees will meet at the King-Oats cemetery for the installation of the Medallion.  For additional information email Reece Stanley at  rstanley@ndemand.com

             Friends and relatives of the late Larkin and  Susana Tempie Bates are invited to attend the annual Bates Family Reunion.  The reunion will be held on September 29th, in Joaquin, TX at the Jackson Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  Doors will be open at 10:30 a.m.  A covered dish lunch will be spread at 12:00 noon.  Come and enjoy the day.  For further information contact Tommie Williams, email her at tdw1428@ccsolisp.com

        Looking for information regarding LOUIS POWELL that married ELIZA BROWN in Shelby Co., TX. LOUIS was born abt.1814 and died 18 Jul 1851. ELIZA was born abt.1818. They had four children; 1).LOUIS CLAY POWELL b.02 Aug. 1842 AL.  2).LOUIS BLAKE POWELL b.1845 AL.d.12 Feb.1917 Hico,TX.   3).SARAH HENRETTA POWELL b.1847 AL.4). WILLIAM EDWARD"BUD"POWELL b.03Apr 1849 d.03 Apr 1929 Fort Worth,TX.   After Louis died, Eliza married THOMAS PECK a widower. Obituaries
ROBERT D. SCARBER
    Robert D. Scarber, 79, of Huxley died August 30, 2007.  Burial was in Strong Cemetery.  Born June 4, 1928, in Dreka, he was the son of Daniel James Scarber and Bessie Ann Shue Scarber.  Mr. Scarber was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Sam Houston Masonic Lodge.  He was preceded in death by Parents, James Scarber and Bessie Ann Shue Scarber and Brother Davis Scarber.  Survivors include Sons, Bobby Scarber of Shelbyville, Mike Scarber of Center and Marty Scarber of Rowlett.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
WINNIE BELL CRUMP
    Winnie Bell Crump, 93, of Timpson died August 30, 2007 in Carthage.  Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County.  Born October 19, 1913, in Timpson she was the daughter of Willie and Izzie Bell Prince Ramsey.  Ms. Crump was married to Alfred Crump and he preceded her in death. Survivors include Daughters, Alice J. Ross and Patricia A. Clepper, both of Timpson and Vickie S. Miller of Shreveport, Louisiana; Sons, Bobby G. Crump of Sulphur Springs, Doye R. Crump of Timpson and Ronnie L. Crump of Nacogdoches.  Taylor Funeral Home.
GLADYS LOUT STAVROPLOS STEVENS
    Gladys Lout Stavroplos Stevens, 80, of Center died August 30, 2007 at her residence.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Born April 25, 1927, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Walter Bailey Lout and Betty A. Beck Lout.  Ms. Stevens was preceded in death by husband, Chris Stavroplos; Brother, Thomas Lout; Sisters, Nita Johnson, Doris Greenwood and LaMerle Duncan.  Survivors include Nephews and Nieces and a host of friends.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
LOIS ETOILE THOMPSON
    Lois Etoile Thompson, 83, of Center died September 4, 2007 in Carthage.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Shelby County.  Born June 13, 1924, she was the daughter of Allen Joplin and Ethel Butler Joplin.  Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by Husband, John Elvin Thompson; Son, Jerry Thompson; Sisters, Ruby Thompson and Ruth DeSpain; Brother, Carl Allen Joplin.  Watson and Sons Funeral Home. 
GEARLDEAN CURBOW BEARD
    Geraldean Curbow Beard, 85, of Timpson died September 3, 2007.  Burial was in Cold Springs Cemetery, Garrison.  Born January 12, 1922, in Garrison, she was the daughter of Charlie and Ida Bell Lunsford Curbow.  Ms Beard was married to Marvin Beard and Joe Bill Beard and they preceded her in death.  Survivors include Sons, Ronny Beard of Timpson, Donny Beard of Tomball, Terry Beard of Spring, Perry Beard of Milam and Randy Beard of Dayton; Daughters, Shirley Cottongin of Kirbyville, Barbara West of Athens, Rebecca Palmer of Tyler and Sandra Beard of Timpson; Sister, Charles Mildred Stanaland of Garrison.  Taylor Funeral Home.
