______________

The Shelby County Historical Society announces the beginning of their fall programs on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 2:00 P. M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker this month will be Mr. Roger Doyle, who came to Shelby County in 2000 with his wife Judy, from his hometown of Groveton in Trinity County.  He is a licensed embalmer and is employed at Watson and Sons Funeral Home.  He is the Commander of the local camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.  He will speak to us about Camp Jesse Amason and tell us about the gear of the common soldier.  He will be dressed in a Confederate uniform.  We welcome everyone to join us at this program and also to visit our displays and genealogical library.  We seek new members and  volunteers who are interested in preserving the historical past of Shelby County.
