The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting September 17, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker will be Dr. Gerald Edwards with the Baptist Retreat located on F. M. 138.  He will be telling about the work that is going on there.   Everyone is invited.

Charlie “Billy” Byndom, Jr., 68, of Center, died September 10, 2013 at his home. Interment will be in Gates Chapel Cemetery, Shelby County. Survivors include, Wife, Lou Ester Moore Byndom of Center; Son, Felix L. Byndom of Center; Daughter, Leslie Byndom-Bell & husband, Anthony, of Center; Sisters, Cassie Mae Cartwright of Shelbyville, Minnie Stansberry of Shelbyville, Girtha Swindle & husband, Roosevelt, of Shelbyville, Mildred Faye Gardner of Shelbyville, Ira Dean Lister of Shelbyville; Brother, V. LONNIE B. COX
Lonnie B. Cox, 88, of Center, died September 6, 2013 at Green Acres Nursing Home in Center. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born October 29, 1924 in Mineral, Texas to Earnest Weston Cox and Susan Margaret Baugh Cox. Mr. Cox served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He later joined the United States Air Force where he served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Mamie Ozella Cox. Survivors include, Wife, Wanda Trudy Cox of Center; Daughters, Connie Belgard & husband, Mike of Center, Karen Sharp & husband, Bill of Garland; Sons, Jim Cox of Center, Jeff Cox & wife, Angela of Center.

MILTON JONES
Milton Jones, 86, died September 03, 2013. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born to Walter and Opal Jones of San Augustine, Texas on December 17, 1926. After high school he joined the Merchant Marines aboard a supply ship between the U. S., Korea and Japan. On December 14, 1947, he married Norma Jean Tyre from Center, Texas. Survivors include, Daughters, Milta Whitman & husband, Jack, Leezan Grun & husband, Eddie; Stepdaughter, Nancy Haight & husband, Bob; Stepson, David Jones.
