Looking for information on my Granny's family. Looking for info on the children of Edward Marshall Hughes and Courtney Prudence Billingsley, children: Edward Hughes, Richard Gibson Hughes, Winney E. Hughes, William Henry Hughes, Mollie J. Hughes, Robert Young Hughes, Nina A. Hughes, and Louvinda Ann Mitchell, Children: Buford Albert Hughes, Erma Hughes, Laura Hughes, Paul W. Hughes and his twin, Silas N. Hughes, Emmett M. Hughes, Arvis Hughes, F. M. Hughes and Mildred V. Looking for Jonah Roberts, black farmer in 1870 Timpson the son of James Smith. The family history stated that he owned his farm and began an all black school with 36 kids attending.  The school was called Jonah Roberts in Nettleridge. Andrew H. Roberts   ethljnrob@aol.com 1

JACK N. ROBERSON---Jack Roberson, 78, of Carthage, formerly of Tenaha, died September 4, 2002.  Burial was in Ramah Cemetery.  Born July 17, 1924, he was the son of H.G. and Edith Parker Roberson.  His parent preceded him in death.   Mr. Roberson is survived by his wife, Aillene Samford Roberson of Carthage, Steve Roberson of Carthage, Ken Roberson of of Stamford,  Ric Roberson of Coppell, Ron Roberson of Cypress; brothers, Clyde Roberson of Tenaha and Charles Roberson of Houston.
ILA BELLE MIMS HARVEY---Ila Belle Harvey, 81, of Timpson, died September 13, 2002 in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Corinth Cemetery, Timpson.  Born October 13, 1920, in Timpson, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Mary Cozart Mims.  She was married to Ralph Harvey and he precedes her in death.  Mrs. Harvey is survived by daughter, Barbarta Zetha of Angelton; brother, John Mims, Jr. of Timpson; sisters, Joyce Smith of Center, Loreen McIntyre, Marian Gentry, Frances Moore and Olga Hughes, all of Timpson.  Taylor Funeral Home.
ODELL CHILDRESS TAYLOR----Odell Taylor, 99, of Shreveport, Louisiana, died September 13, 2002 in Shreveport.  Burial was in Jackson Cemetery.  Born June 23, 1903 in Joaquin, she was the daughter of the Rev. James Monroe and Elizabeth Ann Colberton Childress. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Taylor, one son and one daughter.  Mrs. Taylor is survived by daughters, Frances Ann Lawson of Joaquin, Wincie Worley of Shreveport, Edith Stone of Keithville, Louisiana and Blanche McMullen of Bethany, Louisiana.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
DORIS CORDER PRICE---Doris Price, 78, of Redwood City, California, formerly of Tenaha died Friday, September 13, 2002 in California.   Burial was in Ramah Cemetery.  Born July 1, 1924 in Houston, she was the daughter of Atness and Tommie Hill Corder.  Mrs. Price is survived by her husband, Dale R. Price; son, Robert Dale Price of Redwood City, California; daughter, Karen Lee Dunn of Briston, Oklahoma; brothers Atness Corder, Jr. of Portland and John Corder of San Antonio; sisters, Eleanor White of Little Rock, Arkansas, Bette Upton of Bossier City, Louisiana, Billie Patterson of Cooper, Patricia Corder of Lumberton and Jackie Trlicia of Victoria.  Mangum Funeral Home
PAUL E. EDWARDS---Paul Edwards, 75, of Shelbyville died September 15, 2002 at his residence.  The family selected donation.   Born July 10, 1927 in Okemah, Oklahoma, he was the son of Isam and Cynthia Lorene Smith Edwards.  Survivors include his wife Billie Edwards of Shelbyville; daughters, Penny Garcia and Shelly Gonzales, both of Center; son, Ray Pritchard; seven sisters and eight brothers.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
MAGNOLIA YOUNG ALEXANDER---Magnolia Alexander, 88, died September 8, 2002.  Burial was in Westview Cemetery. Born June 1, 1914, she was the daughter of Sally Young of Center.  She was preceded in death by her husband Denmon Alexander, mother, brother and sister.   Ms. Alexander is survived by her children Charles Aaron Ray, Donald Alexander of Dallas, Dennis Alexander of Houston and Dorrie Hill of Tenaha.  Hicks Mortuary.
MABEL WHIDDON---Mable Whiddon, 87, of Joaquin, died September 13, 2002 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home.  Burial was in Sholar Cemetery.  Mrs. Whiddon was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlene Scott and sister, Wanda Pomraning.  She is survived by her husband Woodrow Whiddon of Joaquin; son Lawrence of Virginia; daughters Evelyn Haynes of East Alton, Illinois, Virginia Spurlock of Joaquin.  Mangum Funeral Home.
OREATHA SMITH LLOYD---Oreatha Lloyd, 72, died September 10, 2002.  Burial was in St. John Cemetery in Tenaha.  Born November 2, 1929 in Tenaha, she was the daughter of Charlie and Lula Bowman Smith.  Mrs. Lloyd is survive by her husband James H. Lloyd; children, James A. Charlie E., Michael W., John H. Lloyd, Janice M. Jacquot, Willie N. Lloyd, Cynthia Newsom, Chris Goss Lloyd, Williams Lloyd, Cynthia Jones, Royce Lloyd, Clifford Lloyd, Rose White, Meldenise Lloyd, Carolyn Adams, Bruce A. Lloyd; sister, Posey, Melanise and Bennie.  Community Funeral Home.
LAYTON C. DABNEY---Layton C. Dabney, 79, of Timpson, died September 19, 2002 in Nacogdoches.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.  Born October 14, 1922, he was the son of Cornelius and Mabel Dabney.  Survivors include his wife Billie Dabney of Timpson; son, Brinson L. Dabney of Nacogdoches; stepson William Winston Tidwell of Fallbrook, California; sister, Cornelius Loskoski of Hempstead. Taylor Funeral Home.
LORENE COBB WAY---Lorene Way, 90, of Center died September 19, 2002 in Center.  Burial was in Ramah Cemetery.  Born August 24, 1912, she was the daughter of William and Lula Simpson Cobb.  Survivors include a sister Bernice Strickland of Center.  Mangum Funeral Home.
THE REV. GEORGE RALPH BARLOW---Rev. George Barlow, 91, of Houston died September 18, 2002 in Houston.  Burial was in Strong Cemetery.  Born July 3, 1911 he was the son of J.E. and Mary J. Barlow.  Survivors include daughter, Beverly Jean Twardowsky of Cleveland.  Mangum Funeral Home.
MADGE GOODWIN WEAVER---Madge Weaver, 94, of Center died September 18, 2002. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Born October 2, 1907, she was the daughter of Jack and Mamie J. Peters Goodwin.  Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard D. Weaver; son, David Lamar Weaver; parents Jack and Mamie Goodwin; sister, Marie Wilson, Gladys Alford, Sally Eugenia and Annie Mae Oberthier.  She is survived by her brother, Jack Goodwin of Tyler.  Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
