The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting October 15, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker this month will be Terri Lacher. She will be speaking about the life and works of Mrs. Mattie Dellinger. Everyone is invited.

NORMA LYDIA LOUT
Norma Lydia Lout, 90, died September 26, 2013 in Baytown, Texas. Norma was born on December 17, 1922 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Carl and Lydia Wessel. Norma served her country in the U. S. Army from November 17, 1944 through March 13, 1946 serving in France and Belgium. She resided in Center (Campti), Lufkin and Baytown Texas. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Sam Laurie Lout; Sisters, Helen Wessell, Edith Seimers. Survivors include, Daughters, Frances Carenza & husband, Charles, Carolyn Eneks and husband, Billy, Nelda Parker & husband, Edwin, Tammie Luttrell & husband, John; Son, Tommy Lout & wife Patti; Sister, Leona McClure of Palos Park, Illinois.
THOMAS MARSHALL HELMS, JR.
Thomas “Tom” Marshall Helms, Jr., 64, of Center, died September 28, 2013. Interment was in Clever Creek Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born December 3, 1948 in Skagway, Alaska to Thomas Marshall Helms, Sr. & Pauline Bynum Helms. He was preceded in death by infant Sister, Sally Helms. He was born September 27, 1921 in the Paxton Community to Henry and Ethel Fields Townsend. He graduated from Tenaha High School. Buddy served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
