The Shelby County Historical Society and Museum will have our October Meeting on Tuesday October 18, 2016 at the Museum at 2:00 p.m. Judge Bennie Boles will be the speaker.  He will either talk about his Football Career at Center High School and Sam Houston State University or possible an old interesting jury trial in which he was over. Everyone is invited to attend and also see our new display of Sports Memorabilia, and other things.

Jeannine Dannelle Bailey, 77, of Center, died October 11, 2016, at her residence. Interment will be in Martinsville Cemetery, Nacogdoches County. She was born November 22, 1938, in Houston, to James Daniel McLean and Vera Oma DeMent McLean. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Gerald Bailey, Son, Gerald Perry Bailey Sr.; Brother, Tommy McLean. Survivors include, Daughter, Geraldine McWhirter & husband, William, of Moss Hill; Sons, Darrell Bailey of Center, Michael Cory Bailey of Center; Brother, Daniel Perry McLean of Center;
Sister, Marjorie Williamson of Rockford, Illinois.

Mary Carolyn Phillips, 79, of Waskom, Texas, died October 5, 2016 in Marshall, Texas. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas. She was born July 4, 1937 in Timpson, Texas to Lloyd and Mary Bogue Brannon. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Derrick Shaw “Ricky” Brannon. Survivors include, Son, Thomas Mack “Rusty” Cranford & wife, Shirley of Caledonia, Texas; Daughters, Mechael Scott & husband, Rex of Elysian Fields, Texas, Micah Nutt & husband, Jody Grubbs of Timpson, Texas; Brother, Ronnie Brannon & wife, Rachel of Hallsville, Texas; Sisters, Rita Busby & husband, Thomas of Waskom, Texas, Linda Stanaland & husband, Edgar of Woden, Texas.
