1st Annual Fountain Family Reunion will be held at 10 AM until ??? October 25, 2008 at Community Center, San Augustine Street, Center, Texas.  A special gathering for all the descendants of Robert Jackson Fountain and Martha Potts Fountain. GLAYTHON ESTHER BUSSEY
    Glaython Esther Bussey, age 89, of Elkhart, Texas, died October 16, 2008 in Palestine, Texas. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County. Born in Lufkin, Texas on July 2, 1919, Glaython Bussey was the daughter of the late Thomas Elmer and Eula(Bussey) Galbreath. Preceded in death by Husband, Zannie Lee Bussey; Parents; Infant Son; Sisters, Gladys Wedgeworth, Ardath Bailey; Brother, Thomas Galbreath. Survivors include, Daughters, Loretta Tolar and Janet Wagstaff, both of Elkhart, Texas.

DOROTHY PALMER
    Dorothy Palmer, age 88 of Center, died Oct. 20, 2008 in Center. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center. She was born August 22, 1920 in Port Arthur to parents, Paul & Ada (Talbot) Abshire. Preceded in death by, Parents, Step Mother Bertha Abshire; Brother, Abbie Paul Abshire; Sister, Agnes Arnold. Survivors include, Husband, Delbert Palmer of Center; Sons, Jack Palmer of Center, Kenneth Palmer of Houston; Brothers, A.J. Abshire of Village Mills, Charles W. Abshire of Pasadena, Linwood James Abshire of Lumberton, Louis Edward Abshire of Pt. Neches.

SPC. CORY JOSEPH BERTRAND
Spc. Cory Joseph Bertrand, 18 of Center, died October 14, 2008 while serving in the U.S. Army in Qazi Bandeh, Afghanistan during his tour of duty. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Shelby County with full military honors. He was born November 15, 1989 in Opelousas, LA. He joined the military in January 2007. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division; assigned to Fort Hood. Spc. Bertrand was awarded numerous medals and ribbons, among them are the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Survivors include, Mother and Step Father, Charlotte and Matt Allen of Center, Father, Ernie Nelams of Scott, La.; Brother, Austin Nelams of Center; Step Brothers, Luc and Zane Allen of Center; Step Sisters, Whitnee and Sydnee Allen of Center; Grandparents, Mable and the late Ezra Bertrand of Palmetto, La. Rose and the late Bill Nelams, Johnny and Lillian Allen of Center.
