Gorman L. Carriker, 75, of Center died October 30, 2003, in Nacogdoches. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Born January 10, 1928, in Shelby County, he was the son of Lofton and Elva Baker Carriker. Mr. Carriker is survived by his wife, Alene Carriker of Center; sons, Terry Carriker of Center and John Carriker of Nyack, New York; daughter, Lisa Reed of Douglasville, Georgia; brother, Dr. E.H. DORIS BURNS
Doris Burns, 85, of Timpson died November 2, 2003 in Garrison. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson. Born July 10, 1918, in Timpson, she was the daughter of Albert and Myra Blankenship Burns. THOMAS NEWTON DICKEY, JR.
Thomas Newton Dickey, Jr. 74, of Center died November 2, 2003. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Born December 4, 1928, in Fouke, Arkansas, he was the son of Thomas Newton and Mary Delaney Dickey. Mr. Newton was married to Mary H. Dickey and she preceded him in death. Survivors include wife, Doris Bush Dickey of Center; son, Taylor Bush of Center; Ann Daw of Center; sisters, Virginia Gilliland of Coco, Florida, and Linda Crnkovik of Stonewall, Louisiana. SARAH GOODWYN BROWN
Sarah Goodwyn Brown, 84, of Shelbyville died November 1, 2003. Burial was in Rather Cemetery. Born February 3, 1919, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of James Bailey and Nora Bell Goodwyn. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband Homer Brown; step-son, Roger Brown; stepdaughter, Versie Berry; seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include sons, David Lout and Al Lout, both of Shelbyville; Step-sons, Howell Brown of Shreveport, Louisiana and Joe Brown of Longview; step-daughters, Beatrice Parker of Center, Lamerle Madden of Nashville, Tennessee and Rosie Mae Brown of Center. GLADYS MAE NIXON
Gladys Mae Nixon, 96, of Joaquin died October 29, 2003. Burial was in Joaquin Cemetery. Ms. Nixon was born January 26, 1907. She was preceded in death by her husband H.B. J. Pascual Vasques, 68, of Center died November 4, 2003 in Waco. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Born May 1935, in San Louis Potosi, Mexico, he was the son of Joan Vasquez and Santos Hernandez. Born September 30, 1938, in Gillham, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Alvie Lee Causey and Haley Elizabeth Ward Causey. Mrs. Flournoy was preceded in death by her daughters, Tanna Lee Flournoy and Kristi Elizabeth Flournoy; son, Bobby Flournoy and sister, Barbara Ann Reynolds.
