The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting November 20, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The speaker this month will be Greg Grant who will talk about “Dog Trot Houses” and some of the other interests he is involved with. Everyone is invited.

NAY O. SMITH, SR.
Nay O. Smith, Sr, 88, of the Hawthorne Community, died November 9, 2012, in San Augustine. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery, San Augustine County. Nay was born to Ethel Mathews Smith and Nay W. Smith on September 1, 1924, in San Augustine County, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by, Sister, Verna Taylor; Son, Glenn Edward Smith. Survivors include, Wife, Avery Smith of San Augustine; Daughter, Cindy Watts & husband, Ron of Tyler; Sons, Nay Smith, Jr. & wife, Cathleen of San Augustine, Matt A.
