The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting November 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelby County Museum located on Pecan Street. Mr. Larry Hume will be in charge of the program this month and will be talking about Shelby County Veterans who never made it home.  I call it "Almost Home."  Everyone is invited to attend.

Prentice “Bubba” Shofner, Jr., 56, of Center, died November 9, 2018, at his residence. Interment was in Latham Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born March 22, 1962, in Center, to Prentice Shofner Sr. and Bobbie Ann Harrison Shofner. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Toni Shofner Alford; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Robert D. and Judy Rushing; Stepbrother, Jeff Burris; Stepmother, Jenell Shofner. Lola Delois Wilson, 81, of Center, died November 11, 2018. Interment was in Mt. Herman Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born on March 9, 1937 to Kate and Mac Houston. Lola dedicated 35 years to Shelby Saving Bank where she met so many people and developed life long friendships which she treasured. She was preceded in death by, Son, James Darren Wilson; Mother, Kate Houston; Father, Mac Houston; Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buford and Ethel Wilson. He was born on April 1, 1950 in Center to Granville Waller and Luna Parker McSwain Waller. He graduated from Center High School Class of 1968. He served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam.
