MIKE WOOD
Mike Wood, 69, of Joaquin, died December 17, 2015, in San Antonio. Interment was in Truitt Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born December 14, 1946, in Logansport, Louisiana to Samuel Joshua Wood and Bessie Iva Ramsey Wood. He held many titles, such as cattle farmer, science teacher for over 30 years, having taught at Chireno ISD, Joaquin ISD, Carthage ISD and Panola College, Member of Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department for 41 years, instructor at Texas A&M Fire School for over 15 years, Former Mayor and City Councilman of Joaquin, Former Song Leader at First United Methodist Church of Joaquin, Bagpiper, President of Truitt Cemetery Association, President of Joaquin Alumni, Member of Joaquin Masonic Lodge #856 and Past President of Sons of the Republic of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, Wife, Lavonne Goings Wood; Daughters, Janie Jones & husband, David, of Carthage, Jennifer Whittlesey & husband, Joe, of Center; Brother:, Sammy Wood & wife, Lena, of Plano.

RAYMOND JACKSON
“Coach” Raymond Jackson, 76, of Tenaha, died December 21, 2015, at his residence. Interment was in Willow Grove Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born February 24, 1939, in Gary, to Paul Allen Jackson and Annie Ruth Stevens Jackson. He was lifetime member of Texas High School Coaches Association. Mr. Jackson coached basketball and football for 40 years. He coached the Tenaha Tigers 1998 State Championship Football Team. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, Wife, Sylvia Jackson of Tenaha; Sons, Ray Jackson & wife, Vera, of Joaquin, Randy Jackson & wife, Shannon, of Grapevine; Brothers and Sisters, Paul Jackson & wife, Carolyn, of Joaquin, Dan Jackson of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, James Jackson of New Orleans, Louisiana, Judith Adams & husband, Holly, of Tenaha, Sheila Wiggins & husband, Chuck, of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Lisa Gayle Smith, 55, of Center, died December 21, 2015, at her residence. Interment was in McClelland Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born August 5, 1960, in Center, to Carl Laborn Smith and Nina Bell Campbell Smith. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Fred “Scooter” Smith. Quinton Elijah Bozeman, 25, of Groesbeck, died December 12, 2015. He was born in Mexia on May 9, 1990 to Samuel J. Bozeman and Sharon K. Rains Bozeman Schoen.
