On May 14, 1859, a fourth Masonic Lodge was established in Shelby County was Sam Houston Lodge No. 243. Sam Houston Lodge struggled along until 1869, when it was consolidated with Truit Lodge No. 149, to form a new Lodge at Center, the newly created county seat of Shelby County, to become Sam Samford LodgeNo. 149.
