TO THE HONORABLE:
       THE SENATE AND
            THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
                     OF THE STATE OF TEXAS

In legislative assembly convened:

        The undersigned citizens of Shelby County, residing in the south portion of said county and upon territory contiguous to the county of San Augustine, beg leave to say that our domestic and commercial relations are such as to render it desirable that the county boundaries of Shelby county be so changed as to detach us from the county of Shelby and annex us to the county of San Augustine. Wherefore we respectfully ask your Honorable body to pass a law changing the south boundary line of Shelby county as follows:
        Beginning at a point on the Sabine River known as Wilkerson’s Bluff or Cransville, thence running a strait line to Charles Lane, La. as to include said lane in San Augustine county. Thence a strait line to Thos. H. Listers in Shelby County. Thence a strait line to a point on the Attoyac River where the lines of San Augustine and Shelby counties join. And we respectfully as that all the territory lying south of said lines be incorporated into and become a portion of the county of San Augustine. And in duty we will ever pray.
