Jerry Dane Samford, 62, of Timpson, Texas, died January 9, 2022, in Timpson, Texas.  Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on July 1, 1959, in Carthage, Texas, to Jimmy Samford and Lola Lanell Hendricks.  He was preceded in death by, Grandparents, Travis and Ola Mae Hendricks and WJ and Rachel Samford.  Survivors include, Parents, Jimmy Samford and Lola Lanell Beckham; Stepfather, Jerry “Butch” Beckham; Son, Jeremy Samford; Daughters, Marissa Samford, Jamie Hughes & husband, Tyson; Brother, Cody Beckham & wife, Ashley; Sisters, Toska Vaughn, Shawna Walker & husband, Kenny.

BILLY PEVETO
Billy Peveto, 68, of Timpson, Texas, died January 12, 2022, in Timpson, Texas.  Interment was in Patroon Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on July 6, 1953, in Center, Texas, to Billy Don and Tommie (Chambers) Peveto.  He graduated from Timpson High school in 1971.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Tommie and Charles Alexander, Billy Don and Sylvia Peveto; Son, Christopher S Peveto; Brother, Charles David Alexander.  Survivors include, Son, Jason Peveto; Sister, Teri Lea Alexander; Stepsister, Debra Anne Alexander.

Charles “Bud” Matlock, 59, of Center, died January 14, 2022, in Center.  Interment was in Helpenstell Cemetery, Garrison.  He was born September 25, 1962, in San Jacinto, to Charles William Matlock and Edwina Jones Matlock.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Russell Matlock; Mother of his children, Terressa Matlock Shields.  Survivors include, Daughter, Heather Matlock & Dustin King; Son, Cody Matlock & Jill; Sister, Susan & Danny West.

James L Nickerson, 77, died January 14, 2022 in Beaumont, Texas. DANIEL JAY MILLER
Daniel Jay Miller, 70, of Tenaha, died January 9, 2022, in Tenaha.  He was born April 14, 1951, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Helen Engle and Carl Miller.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Bill and Jon Miller.  Survivors include, Daughters, Debbie Cohn, Mary Dodson & Travis Brisco; Son-in-law, Richard Cohn; Sister, Louise Rosati.

JANET SHOFNER WILBURN
Janet Shofner Wilburn, 63, of Center, died January 16, 2022, in Nacogdoches after a brief battle with cancer.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  She was born November 16, 1958, in Center, to James Richard and Rosa Vaugh Shofner.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Mike Wilburn, Father, James Richard Shofner, Father-in-law, Bobby Henry Wilburn, Mothers-in-law, Yvonne Holt Wilburn and Cora Nutt Wilburn, Brothers-in-law, Steve Wilburn and David Nutt, Sister-in-law, Cynthia Nutt Lawson.  Survivors include, Daughters, Misty Wilburn of Center, Micah Wilburn Youngblood of Center; Mother, Rosa Vaughn Shofner of Center; Sister & brother-in-law, Deb Shofner Johnson & Darrell of Center; Sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Yolanda Wilburn Davis & Lynn of Center; Sister-in-law, Debbie Nutt of Prague, Oklahoma; Honorary sister and brother-in-law, Linda Livingston Dawson & Chester, of Center.

WARDLOW LANE II
Wardlow Lane II, 81, died January 13, 2022.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  He was born October 27, 1940, to Sam W. Lane, Sr. and Irene Childs Lane, who predeceased him.  After graduating from law school, Wardlow served as Assistant Attorney General during the administration of Texas Attorney General John L. Hill. In 1975, Wardlow and his family moved to Center, where he opened his law practice on Church Street. Among other clients, he served as attorney for the City of Center.  Wardlow later relocated to and opened a law practice in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where he also served as City Attorney.  Wardlow retired from the practice of law in 2010, returned to Center, and remained a life-long learner, reader, and traveler. He was known to say that “if you stopped learning, you stopped living.”   Survivors include, Wife, Linda Bell Lane; Children, Wardlow Lane III (Catherine Mallory) of Center, Texas,  Lauren Lane of Grapevine, Texas, Aleshia Fife (Keith) of Gaithersburg, Maryland,  Mark Massey (Wendy) of Kemah, Texas; Brother, Sam W. Lane, Jr. (Frances).

Jerry Michael Green, 72, of Center, died January 17, 2022, in Center. He was born May 27, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Ida Grace O'Donnell and Luther Ruby Green.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Peggy Allison, Maxine Bradshaw.  Survivors include, Wife, Lois Evon Green of Center; Children, Peggy Green of Center, Patricia Green Wright & husband Buddy of Center, Tina Smith & husband Josh of Hemphill, John Green of Center; Sisters, Mary Stephenson of Timpson, Barbara Guch of Quitman.

Linda Allen, 76, of Center, Texas, died January 14, 2022, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.  Interment was in Westview Cemetery, Center, Texas.  She was born to Ralph Mann and Christine Norris Mann in Tatum, Texas on July 25, 1945.  Survivors include, Son, Antonio Deon (Denise) Allen of Nacogdoches; Daughter, Loura (David) Hunt of Nacogdoches; Brother, Charles Mann of California; Sisters, Helen Goodwin of Center, Evelyn Osby of Center.

Quiency "Sweet Pea" Demond Handy Horton, 41, of Shelbyville, died January 17, 2022, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.  Interment was in Mt. Gillion Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born in Center to Milton and Earsie Horton of Shelbyville.
