The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting February 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. The meeting this month will be held at the Shelbyville Methodist Church. Our guest speaker this month will be Ms Merle Howard.  She will speak to us about the history of the church. Everyone is invited to attend.

Jesse Ray Jackson, 78, of Nacogdoches, died January 26, 2017 at his home. Interment was in Old Salem Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born February 20, 1938 in San Augustine to Jessie and Mattie Teal Jackson. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sons, James Ray Jackson, Mark Jackson; Sister, Nelva Joy Underwood. Survivors include, Wife, Kathy Jackson of Nacogdoches; Children, John Jackson & wife, Tracie of Tyler, Rebecca Books & husband, David of Palestine, Cindy Baker & husband, Harlan of Nacogdoches, Cora Wilburn & fiancé, James Mings of Nacogdoches, Jason Jackson & wife, Kristen of Nacogdoches, Joey Jackson & wife, Lacy of Nacogdoches; Sister, Stella Miller of Dickinson.

Charles H. Berry, 75, of Shelbyville, died January 26, 2017, in Houston. Interment was in West Hamilton Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born February 2, 1941, in Starks, Louisiana, to Carl Berry and Versie Brown Berry. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Edward and Grady Lou Shofner.
