The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting February 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Maggie Casto.  She will speak about Frontier Medicine. Everyone is invited to attend.

MARGUERITE ADAMS
Marguerite "Reatie" Adams, 102, of Lufkin , died January 23, 2018 at her residence. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born October 23, 1915 in Arcadia, Texas to Flossie (Pate) and Frank Wallace. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Paschal Adams; Son, Hal Adams; Brothers, Benjamin Wallace, Jessie Franklin Wallace; Sisters, Vada Tinsley, Marquette Emanis. Survivors include, Son, Ted Adams of Lufkin; Sisters, Sue Hagler of Center, Marsha Lou Askew of Beaumont; Brother, Joe Wallace of Center.

SHARRON PARROZZO
Sharron Parrozzo, 68, of Zavalla, Texas, died February 5, 2018 in Zavalla. Interment will be in Short Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born on September 2, 1949 in Jacksonville, Texas to Maurice Forbis and Wanda Hughes Forbis. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, D. J. Parrozzo; Brother, Ronnie Forbis. Survivors include, Son, David Parrozzo & close friend, Stacey of Zavalla; Daughter, Nova Casterlin & husband, James of Minnesota.

MIKE BYRN GREEN
Mike Byrn Green, 73, of Alamosa, Colorado, died January 30, 2018 at his home. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 21, 1944, to John Willard and Peggy Byrn Green. He served in the United States Coast Guard. Survivors include, Sister, Joan Green Jeffrey of Liberty, Texas.

Alford “A. L.” Samford, 85, of Joaquin, Texas, died February 1, 2018 in Center. Interment was in Jackson Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on February 16, 1932 in Center to J. E. and Molly Samford. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Melvie Lambert Samford; Brother, E. C. Samford. Survivors include, Daughter, Sandra Riley & husband, Lee of Oklahoma; Son, Jerry Patton of Lampasas.

DARRELL DEAN MATTHEWS
Darrell Dean Matthews, 81, of Joaquin, died February 2, 2018, in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Jackson Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born October 29, 1936, in Logansport, Louisiana, to Charlie Matthews and Mary Horn Matthews. He served his country for six years in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Son. Donnie Matthews; 8 Brothers and Sisters. Survivors include, Daughter, Debbie Mahaffey & husband, Darren, of Diamondhead, Mississippi; Son, Jimmy Matthews & wife, Mitzi, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Brother, Bobby Matthews; Sisters, Virginia Young, Exa Doss, Jan Miller.
