The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting February 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. We will have two guest speakers this month.  Ms Billie Sue Payne will speak to us about the history of The First United Methodist Church and Ms Suzanne Ihlo will speak about the Methodist Church Cemetery.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Mary Green, 84, of Melrose, died February 9, 2016 at her residence. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born September 10, 1931 in Rayville, Louisiana to Jack Arthur and Susie Woodard Shaw.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Rufus Whitten, Husband, Samuel Derbin, Husband, James Green; Son, Samuel Wayne Derbin; Daughter, Dorothy Jane Derbin; Brothers, Gordon Shaw, Franklin Shaw, Henry Shaw, Jack Shaw, Jr. Survivors include, Children, Deanna Sepulvado of Melrose, Thomas Derbin & wife, Michelle of Melrose, Clyde Derbin & wife, Sherry of Central Heights, Mary Webb & husband, Johnny of Gary, Betty Valentine & husband, Jim of Deer Park, Kenneth King of Melrose, Bo Whitten, Jr. & wife, Karla; Brothers, Cecil Shaw, Thomas Shaw & wife, Betty, George Shaw.

Jimmy Harper, 62 of Longview, formerly of Shelby County, died February 7, 2016 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview. His wishes were to be cremated and a burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin at a later date. He was born February 25, 1953 in Center, Texas to James Leon and Neva Buckner Harper. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Ruth Bewley. Survivors include, Sister, Janis Fausett & husband, Wayne (Spud) of Marshall.

Ammie Laura Virginia Danley, 66, of Center, died February 7, 2016, in Nacogdoches. Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born May 28, 1949, in Center, to E. V.
