HAROLD DONECE OATES
Harold Donece Oates, 79, longtime resident of Shelby County, now residing in Nacogdoches, died February 6, 2015 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born January 17, 1936 in Shelby County to Steve W. Oates and Amanda Lavada Gann Oates. He worked for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department as a Game Warden from 1965 to 1995. He was the instructor for the Game Warden Academy at Texas A&M University and he retired as a Lieutenant Commander and Director of Inland Waterways and Fisheries. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, Wife, Pauline “Polly” Oates of Nacogdoches; Son, Steve Oates & wife, Susie of Nacogdoches; Daughter, Terrie Oates McAden of Rockwall; Brother, Daryl Oates & wife, Ann of Humble.

OREN C. SECHLER
Oren C. “Chuck” Sechler, 79, of Shelbyville, died February 9, 2015 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Sholar Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born April 23, 1935 in West Monroe, Louisiana to O. C. Sechler and Hellen Maxine McGill Sechler. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Mildred Sechler. Survivors include, Children, Linda Darnell Shy & husband, Perry, of South Lake, Shirley Evon Lewis of Port Arthur, Charles Anthony “Tony” Sechler & wife, Marilyn, of Douglass; Brother, Jerry Glenn Sechler & wife, Elizabeth, of Pearland.

Burnice Lareed Griffin, 79, of Center, died January 7, 2015 at his residence. His wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. He was born November 20, 1935 in Center to George Wesley Griffin and Eloise Campbell Griffin. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Billie Watson; Brother, Johnny Griffin. Gloria Faye Garrett, 50, of Center, died January 30, 2015. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Center, Texas. She was born September 3, 1964 to Minnon Garrett, Jr. and Mary L. Reed of Center, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary L. Reed; her father, Minnon Garrett; Brother, Eric Garrett. J. R. “Red” Owens, 91, of Joaquin, died February 6, 2015 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Price Cemetery, Joaquin, Texas. He was born January 26, 1924 in Logansport, Louisiana to Ernest Owens and Alice Stephens Owens. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by, Wife, Lucille Owens; Son, Scott Owens; Two Brothers; Three Sisters. R. SCOTT WATSON
R. Scott Watson, 50, of Center, died February 5, 2015 in Kansas, while on a hunting trip. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born January 31, 1965 in Center to Robert Sydney “Bobby” Watson and Kathleen Kay Pate Watson. He graduated from Center High School in 1983. Scott later continued in the steps of his father, Bobby Watson, and grandfather, Robert Earl Watson, by earning his funeral director/embalmer license from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Services in Houston. In 1998, he founded Watson & Sons Funeral Home, where he and his family have compassionately served Shelby County for sixteen years. He was preceded in death by, Grandparents, Robert Earl and Mittie B. Watson, Shade and Hattie Pate. Survivors include, Wife, Selena Watson of Center; Children, Stephen Watson & wife, Lynsie, of Shelbyville, Stephanie Copelin & husband, Cameron, of Center, Sean Watson of Center; Parents, Bobby & Kay Watson of Center; Sister, Angela McDonald & husband, Gary, of Center.
