The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting February 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Maggie Casto.  She will speak about Frontier Medicine. Everyone is invited to attend.

Patricia “Trish” Ann Denby Wade, 57, of Savoy, Texas, died February 5, 2018 in Savoy. Interment was in West Hamilton Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born on May 14, 1960 in Center, Texas to Henry Lamar Denby and Frances Jean White Denby. She graduated from Shelbyville High School. She was preceded in death by, Father, Henry Lamar Denby. Survivors include, Son, Joshua Gallier & wife, Ashley of Savoy; Mother, Frances Jean White Denby; Brothers, Bro. JULIAN ROCK “J. R.” LEMOINE
Julian Rock “J. R.” Lemoine, 83, of Sardis, Texas, died on February 12, 2018 due to complications following a car accident. Interment was in Sardis Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on October 15, 1934 in Cloutierville, Louisiana to Joseph and Isabel Lemoine, J. R. was the fourth of six siblings. At the age of seven, his mother died and through a series of events, J. R. was taken in as the foster child of Tom and Ruby Hollis. The Hollises loved and cared for J. R. as their very own and he was their “Baby” as long as they lived. Under their care, J. R. graduated from Shelbyville High School. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Joseph and Isabel Lemoine, Tom and Ruby Hollis; Brothers & Sisters, Joe Lemoine, Lee Lemoine, Genevia Evans. Survivors include, Wife, Virginia Lemoine; Sisters, Sally Wilson, Elizabeth Harris, Donnie Moore; Children, Lisa Christian, Marty Lemoine, Tammy Lemoine, and Joey Lemoine.
