The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting March 19, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal is the Texas State Historian and is a well-known author. He has written many books about the history of Texas. He taught history for many years at Panola College.  He will speak to us about East Texan, Audie Murphy, the most decorated War Hero. Everyone is invited to attend.

Susan Leah Golding, 61, of Asheville, North Carolina, died February 28, 2019. Interment was in Wimberly Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born September 5, 1957 in Port Arthur to Thurman Ross “TR” Golding and Hazel Fields Golding. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include, Sisters, Carole Sonmor of Houston, Sandra Palmer & husband Johnny of Nacogdoches, Patricia Elizondo & husband Joe of San Antonio, Debbie Lawson & husband Mark Sr. of Groves; Aunts, Maxine Christian of Tenaha, Beth Golding of Winnie.

FRANCES PEARL ARMSTRONG HANSON
Frances Pearl Armstrong Hanson, 95, of Lufkin, died March 8, 2019. Interment was in Jackson Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born January 25, 1924 in Douglass, Texas to Della Smith and Henry V. Armstrong.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, George Elton Hanson, Sr.; Six Brothers and Sisters. Survivors include, Daughter & son-in-law, LaDeva & Richard McGee of Hudson; Sons & daughters-in-law, George Elton, Jr. & Judy Hanson of Angleton, Lowell & Sarah Hanson of the Woods Community in Panola County; Sister, Nelda Lawson of Alto.

She was born on December 25, 1939 in Timpson to Alvin Cecil Watson and Etoula Eugene Moore Watson. Glenda graduated from Timpson High School in 1957. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Kenneth Brittain. Survivor s include, Son, Eric Brittain & wife, Bethany; Daughter, Shona Hale.
