The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting March 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal is the Texas State Historian and is a well-known author. He has written many books about the history of Texas. He taught history for many years at Panola College.  Everyone is invited to attend.

He was born on April 6, 1947 in Center, Texas to Carvie Cora Risinger Robinson. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Bruce and Carvie Robinson. CHARLES EDWARD HAWPE
Charles Edward “Charlie” Hawpe, 77, of Duncanville, Texas, died on March 9, 2018. He was born on September 21, 1940 to Boyce Edward and Dora Aileen White Hawpe in Fort Worth, Texas. Charles moved with his family to Center in 1976. He taught ICT at Center High School for many years. Survivors include, Wife, Joan Leigh Yandell Hawpe; Daughters, Sheri Diane Campbell-Kaiser & husband, Patrick, Sheila Lynette Haddox & husband, Matt.

Randolph Wayne “Randy” Forbes, 60, of Shelbyville, died March 7, 2018 in Shelbyville, Texas. He was born May 2, 1957 in Chateauroux, France to Jeanine Helene Daigle and Arvis Oscar Forbes. He was preceded in death by, Father, Arvis Oscar Forbes, Jr.; Stepfather, Dudley Lee Daigle. James Edward Hairgrove, 92, died March 13, 2018 in Houston, TX. Interment will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on February 21, 1926 on the family farm in the Buena Vista Community near Timpson, Texas to Wilburn N. and Pearl Burns Hairgrove. He graduated from Timpson High School in 1943. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Grace, Son, Ronald James Hairgrove; Brother, Van Hairgrove; Sister, JoNell Young.
