The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting April 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Terri Lacher.  She will speak to us about the History of the Banking in Texas.  Everyone is invited to attend

FRED FERMON MC DANIEL
Fred Fermon McDaniel, 83, of Tenaha, Texas, died April 5, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas. Interment was in Jackson Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on August 8, 1935 in the Bobo Community of Shelby County to Fred Jackson McDaniel and Dovie D. Keith McDaniel. Fred grew up in Timpson where he attended Timpson ISD before enlisting in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Lois Amburn, Ruby Nichols, Thelma Danley, Azel Caldwell. Survivors include, Wife, Mary McDaniel; Son, Jeffrey Mark McDaniel & wife Angie; Daughter, Sonya Kay Gunter & husband Tommy;
Brother, Vanard McDaniel.

DELBERT WHEELER
Delbert Wheeler, 86, of Houston, died April 5, 2019, in Houston. Interment will be in Powdrill Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born September 27, 1932, in the Arcadia Community of Shelby County, to John Edwin Wheeler and Cletis Goolsby Wheeler. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by, Wife, Donna Wheeler; Parents. Survivors include, Children, David Wheeler & wife Sheila of Willis, Debra Smith & husband Mark of Hockley; Sister, Fonda Burgay.

DR. CHARLES EDWARD TATUM
Dr. Charles Edward Tatum Ph.D. of Houston, 88, died April 3, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Interment will be in Houston National Cemetery. He was born on February 25, 1931. Dr. Tatum has been known for his publications such as, Mount Zion: In the Shadow of a Might Rock; The Osby Family Genealogy; Midnight: Before the Dawn; Shelby County: In the East Texas Hills; and other noted publications. Dr. Tatum was a native of Center, Texas and a graduate of C. H. Daniels High School. He received his B.A. and M. Ed. Degree for Prairie View A&M University; his M.A.T and M.S degrees for Indiana University; and his Ph.D. Michigan State University. Dr. Tatum is locally survived by, Brother, Willard I. McClelland ; Sister-in-Law, Myrtis M. McClelland.

JOYCELYN MARIE TODD
Joycelyn Marie Todd, 87, died April 8, 2019 in Missouri City, Texas. She was born October 19, 1931, in New Iberia, Louisiana to Clarence (Jack) Robicheaux and Yola Louviere Robicheaux. Survivors include, Children, Donna Todd, Lysa Donalson & husband Tom of East Bernard, Texas, Michelle King & husband Ty of Mercer Island, Washington, William H. Todd, Jr. & wife Susan of Jacksonville, Texas, David Todd & wife Carole of Houston, Texas.
 
MAXIE L. COODY
Maxie L. Coody, 68, of Joaquin, died April 3, 2019, in Houston. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born April 4, 1950, in Saline, Louisiana, to James Coody and Maudie Lucky. He retired from the United States Army after serving three tours in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by, Mother, Maudie Lucky Huntley; Brother, Ben Coody; Stepfather, James Huntley. Survivors include, Children, Sean Anthony Coody of Coushatta, Louisiana, Gregory Coody & wife Amanda of Jonesboro, Louisiana, Aaron Cole Coody & wife Kayla of West Monroe, Louisiana, Amanda Marie Noble & husband Adam of Leavenworth, Kansas; Brothers, Billy James Coody & wife Gudrun of Henderson, Nevada, Douglas Coody & wife Rhonda of Joaquin, Texas; Sister, Ruth Coody of Joaquin, Texas.
