The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting April 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street.  Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O'Neal.  Mr. O'Neal is the Texas State Historian and is a well-known author.  He has written many books about the history of Texas.  He taught history for many years at Panola College.  He will be speaking to us about San Jacinto Day.  Everyone is invited to attend.

CLEVELAND BOBBIE REDMON
Cleveland Bobbie “C.B.” Redmon, 82, of Center, died April 1, 2016. Interment will be in Bush Haley Cemetery, San Augustine County. He was born June 19, 1933 to Leo Redmon and Gladys Stansberry Redmon. He served his country in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Polley Marie Suell; Sister, Lola Mae McClelland; Brother, Raymond Redmon; Son, Bobbie Redmon. Survivors include, Sons, Cedric B. Redmon (Lisa), Kenneth C. Redmon (Pamela) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Roderick Tyrone Redmon of Tyler, Texas; Daughters, Vickie R. May (Tony), Charlotte A. Robinson (Patrick) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; A special Godson, Sam Sanders Jr. of Center, Texas.

THELMA BAILEY WINDHAM
Thelma Bailey Windham, 86, of Bossier City, Louisiana, died April 12, 2016, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born December 25, 1929, in Joaquin, to Walter Scott Bailey and Oda Matilda Walker Bailey. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, Glynn Edward Windham. Survivors include, Husband, Julious Ellis Windham of Bossier City, Louisiana; Daughter, Linda Windham Nein of Brentwood, Tennessee, Dr. Alexander G. Nein of Brentwood, Tennessee; Brother, Robert Bailey & wife, Justina; Sister: Vera Bailey DuBose & husband, Donald.

KENNETH EDGAR WALKER
Kenneth Edgar “Sonny” Walker, 83, died April 10, 2016. Interment was in Sholar Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born March 24, 1933 to Kinley Walker and Vernice Dawson Walker in Durant, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Laverne Hutto Walker; Brothers, Marvin Walker, Ray Kenneth Walker; Sister, Geneva Horn. Survivors include, Sons, Joe Walker & wife, Shelia of Joaquin, James Walker & wife, Beth of Logansport; Daughter, Jan Richardson & husband, Evan of Brookland; Sisters, Connie Straus, Mary Hutto.

DEWEY GLEN LUMAN
Dewey Glen Luman, 85, of Cleveland, Texas, died April 06, 2016. Interment was in Pace Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas. He was born November 27, 1930 to Elmer Luman and Irene Isbell. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Daughter, Glenda Luman Seibert; Sister, Odell Luman Samford; Brothers, Rex Luman, Ray Luman, Royce Luman, Joe Luman, James Luman, Ken Luman. Survivors include, Sisters, Adell Luman Livingston of Center, Sue Luman; Wife, Patsy; Sons, Larry Luman, Bobby Luman, Stephen Luman; Daughters, Sharon Smith, Nancy Keen. He served his country in the military.
 
BOBBY ALLEN SCOTT
Bobby Allen Scott, 77, of Joaquin, died April 10, 2016 at his residence. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born September 8, 1938 in Shelby County, Texas to George Allen and Annie Bass Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, Wife, Barbara Bowlin Scott of Joaquin; Daughter, Terri Foley of Logansport; Stepson, Donny Campbell of Dallas; Sisters, Grace Wilburn of Lufkin, Murlene McMahon of Center, Edith Hughes of Center, Cathy Holt of Center.
