The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting April 21, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker this month will be Mr. Leon Aldridge.  He will speak to us about our local paper, The Light and Champion, where he is the publisher, about other newspapers he has been involved with during his career and about the history of Shelby County's newspapers. Everyone is invited to attend.

Blue Bell Jenkins, 85, of Center, died April 12, 2015 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery, Center, Texas. She was born December 12, 1929 in Shelby County to Dillon and Myra Coleman. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Hudson Jenkins; Daughters, Helen Jenkins Haynes, Lee Elma Jenkins; Brothers, Jim Coleman, Edmond Coleman. Survivors include, Grandchildren, Lavetha Jenkins Scott & husband, Bobby of Huntsville, Lisa Jenkins McNealy & husband, Joe of Dallas, LaDonna Jenkins Bailey & husband, Chadwick of Houston, LaDerrica Pitts Williams & husband, Gary of Tyler, Chris Jenkins & wife, Stephanie of Huntsville, Veleka Haynes of Houston, Krashaun Haynes of Houston, Denise Hewitt of Shelbyville.

Sarah Caldwell Lancelin, 85, died April 7, 2015. She was a native of Center, Texas. She served 20 years as a nurse at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston and 20 years as an educator in the Houston Independent School District. She was preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings. Survivors include, Children, Brenda Taylor, Lynda Mosley, Joel Moore, Yvonne Winston; Sister, Leanna Martin Goree.

Dolores Ann Walker, 78, of Center, died April 11, 2015 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born May 14, 1936 in Center to Tilmon Warr and Gladys Hughes Warr. Survivors include, Husband, Gene Walker of Center; Children, Laura Walker of Center, Steve Walker & wife, Catherine, of Buna; Brothers, Kenneth Warr of Caren Crow, Louisiana, Gaylon Warr of Ft. Walton, Florida.
