He  was born May 20, 1945 to Daniel Evern Welch and Eva Marie Witherspoon in the  Bobo Community, Timpson, Texas. He served four years in the U.S. Army Security  Agency from 1965-1969. He served in Chitose, Japan from July 1966 thru November  1967 and Vietnam from November 1967 thru July 1969.  He was preceded in death by, Parents.  Survivors include, Wife, Elaine Connell Welch  of Pasadena; Children, Jason Lee Welch and wife Kristi of Pasadena, Kelly Renee  Welch of San Antonio.
 A second visitation is  scheduled at Timpson Missionary Baptist Church, 2142 US-59, Timpson, TX 75975,  on May 23, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by a committal service from  5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
