OBITUARIES

ELSIE LEE MC DANIEL
Elsie Lee McDaniel, 88, of Center, Texas, died July 6, 2022, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Interment was in Sardis Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born on August 31, 1933, in Center, Texas, to Charles Edward Clark and Ida Vera Sanford Clark.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Sam Austin McDaniel; Parents; Son, Vance Bradley McDaniel.  Survivors include, Son, Darrell McDaniel & wife Kelly.

RITA MARIE ALBRECHT SIMPSON NESBITT
Rita Marie Albrecht Simpson Nesbitt, 85, of Center, Texas, died July 3, 2022, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on July 8, 1936, in Newald, Forest County, Wisconsin, to Edward W. Albrecht Sr. and Ann Ida Vallard Albrecht.  Rita calls the Seattle, Washington area hometown. She graduated from Lake Washington High School, Kirkland, Washington in 1954.  She enlisted in the US Air force in 1954, at Seattle, serving in the dental service and attaining rank of A/1C (sergeant) at Lackland AFB, San Antonio.  Her subsequent employment consisted of Boeing Airplane Company, Seattle, as a Research and Development librarian during the BOMARC missile development, which was the beginning of the NASA Space Program; employed at Corpus Christi Army Depot as military travel and passport agent, and technical writer; Corpus Christi Police Department as secretary; Flour Bluff ISD as librarian’s assistant.  When possible, she attended colleges in Waco, Lake Charles, and Corpus Christi.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, William W. Nesbitt; Son, William Basset Simpson; Mother, Ann Ida Vallard Albrecht; Father, Edward W. Albrecht, Sr.; Sister, Ida Louise Albrecht.  Survivors include, Son, Aubrey Lee Simpson & wife Eva Dianne of Center; Brother, Edward Albrecht of Lynden, Washington; Sister, Judith Warren and son Taylor of Twin Falls, Idaho; Stepsons, Stephen Nesbitt of Clear Lake, David Nesbitt of Corpus Christi.

CHARLES SAMUEL RHODES
Charles Samuel Rhodes, 88, died July 9, 2022.  Interment was in Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on June 14, 1934, the son of Dan and Sarah Rhodes. He grew up in the small community of Buena Vista in Shelby County and attended Timpson High School.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Lois Rhodes; Stepson, Marvin Earl Biggar.  Survivors include, Children, Deborah Jordan & husband, Marvin of Tenaha, Rebecca Walker & husband, Tony of Joaquin, Chris Rhodes & wife, Jena of Timpson.
The Rhodes family is being served by Taylor Funeral Home.

JAN PERMENTER
Jan Permenter, 69, of Center, died July 11, 2022, in Nacogdoches.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  She was born December 22, 1952, to Laverne Clark and Winston B. Fields. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Gene Fields; Sister-in-law, Cathy Fields; Brothers-in-law, Jerry and Mike Permenter.  Survivors include, Husband, Jim Permenter of Center; Mother-in-law, Betty Permenter of Center; Sister-in-law, Suzanne Richards and Rex of Center.

TOMMY GLENN MC CLELLAND
Tommy Glenn McClelland, 74, of Center, died July 13, 2022.  Interment was in Old Sardis Cemetery, San Augustine County.  He was born October 12, 1947, in Pineland, to Lela Boyd and Floyd McClelland. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, Wife, Claudia McClelland; Sons, Heath McClelland, Bryan McClelland & wife Bonnie, Jason McClelland; Brothers, Willie McClelland & wife Sue, Jimmy McClelland & wife Judy; Sister, Christine Compton; Brothers-in-law, Jesse Hudspeth & wife Sandy, Henry Hudspeth & wife Shelly, Yancy Hudspeth & wife Christina, Frank Hudspeth; Sister-in-law, Nina Walker and John Miles

FRANCES JEAN BYRD
Frances Jean Byrd, 89, of Joaquin, died July 5, 2022, in Nacogdoches.  Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born April 4, 1933, to Doris McRae and Thaddeus Bridwell.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Houston Simpson Byrd; Sons, James Byrd, Robert Byrd; Daughter, Patricia Byrd.  Survivors include, Children, William Thomas Byrd of Nacogdoches, Mary Manshack of Nacogdoches, Gerald Glenn Byrd of Mt. Pleasant, Steve Edward Byrd and G.G. of Joaquin, Michael Joe Byrd & wife Teri of Joaquin.
