OBITUARIES

 

MELBA WILLIAMS
Melba Williams (Mrs. Buck as she liked to be called), 91, died July 7, 2021, in Longview.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born in Shelby County, July 29, 1929, to Littie and Bruce Grimsley in the Short Community.  Melba had three brothers and one sister. Elvin Grimsley was her twin brother. She is the last member of the Grimsley family. One of Melba’s greatest sorrows was losing a grandson, 6½ year old Shane Tinkle in August on Hwy 96 February 20, 1978. He was the son of Monte Dawson and Steve Tinkle.  Survivors include, Daughter, Monte Dawson of Longview; Son, Todd Williams & wife Donna of Weatherford.

C. L. McNEASE, JR.
C. L. “Mac” McNease Jr., 84, of Timpson, died July 7, 2021, in Center.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  He was born June 2, 1937, to Cletus Lee McNease Sr. and Littie Cassell McNease. He served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Bennie Kerr McNease; Son, Glenn Kerr.  Survivors include, Daughter-in-law, Robbie Kerr of Timpson; Brothers, James McNease of Houston, David Jones of Houston; Sisters, Christene Crum of Louisiana, Nancy Jones of Louisiana.

TOM AMOS
Tom Amos, 87, of Timpson, Texas, died July 11, 2021, at home.  Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.  He was born in Houston, Texas on July 27, 1933, to John Virgil and Faye Amos.  He served his country in the U. S. Air Force.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, John Amos, Don Amos; Sister-in-law, Elaine Amos.  Survivors include, Wife, Betty Campbell Amos; Sons, Stanley & wife Lowana of Timpson, Stephen & wife Debi of Timpson, Tim & wife Debby of Timpson, Terry & wife Kim of Timpson.

RICKY LYNN ALLEN
Ricky Lynn Allen, 68, of Timpson, Texas, died July 13 in Rusk, Texas. He was born on April 3, 1953 in Center, Texas to L.G. Allen, Jr. and Billie Joy Allen. Ricky grew up in Timpson, and spent most of his life in the area. He dedicated twenty-eight years of his life serving the State of Texas as a DPS officer and retired as a Lieutenant. He then went on to serve as Captain of the Deep East Texas Narcotics Task Force. After retiring from the state, Ricky served his local community as a Deputy, Lieutenant, and Captain for the Shelby County Sheriff Department, and most currently as Special Investigator for the Shelby County DA’s office.  He was preceded in death by his father, L. G. Allen, Jr.  Survivors include, Mother, Billie Joy Allen of Timpson, Brother, Bradley Allen of Timpson; Children, Michael Allen, Jacob Allen, Katie Norman & Husband Clayton.

RONALD L. COOK
Ronald L. "Ron" Cook, 73, of San Augustine, Texas, died July 12, 2021, at his residence.  Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  He was  born August 24, 1947, in Center, Texas, to George E. and Ruthie Naomi Stephens Cook.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Harlan Cook; Son, Chad Jordan.  Survivors include, Wife, Becky Jordan Cook of San Augustine, Texas; Children, Kenneth Jordan & wife Cassondra of Huxley, Texas, Shelley Metts & husband Eric of Orangefield, Texas, Brandon Jordan & wife Tara of Center, Texas, Jana Hart & husband Kelley of Charleston, South Carolina; Brothers, Charles Cook & wife Mary of Hemphill, Texas, D. C. Cook & wife Rosalie of Pt. Neches, Texas, Greg Cook & wife Angie of Groves, Texas.

James Rogers Yarborough, 75, of Center, died July 13, 2021, in Longview.  As per his wishes, he will be cremated.  He was born October 9, 1945, in Center, to William Alexander Yarborough and T9C Prince Yarborough.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Waymon, Pug, Charles, Alvin, Billy; Sisters-in-law, Lenora Yarborough, Peggy Yarborough, Debbie Ballard; Brother-in-law, Ronnie Ballard;  Father-in-law, Billy Ballard.  Survivors include, Wife, Sandra Yarborough of Center; Daughters, Vanessa Caudle & husband Terry of Carthage, Denise McCauley of Dallas, Feather Andrusick & husband David of Center; Sister, Retha Mize of Tenaha; Brothers, Drennon Yarborough & wife Betty of Arizona, Joe Yarborough & wife Jackie of Center; Sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gayle & Emmett Harvey, Billy Ballard.
