OBITUARIES

MARGARET JUNE GORDON ARMSTREET
Margaret June Gordon Armstreet, 87, of Houston, died July 28, 2022, in Houston.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center.  She was born November 8, 1934, in Joaquin, Texas, to John E. Gordon and Gladys Lurlene Swan Gordon.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, John Wayne Armstreet. Survivors include numerous cousins and loving friends.

BENITA KAY RHODES WHITTON
Benita Kay Rhodes Whitton, 69, of Timpson, Texas, died July 30, 2022, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Interment was in Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. She was born on October 28, 1952, in Center, Texas, to Julius Elvis and Nelva Beatrice McFadden Rhodes.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Survivors include, Husband, Cecil Whitton; Daughter, Zoie Elizabeth Whitton; Son, Joshua Ray Whitton & wife, Angela; Sister, Judy Raines & husband, Buck.

BARBARA JEAN SMITH
Barbara Jean Smith, 78, of Center, died July 30, 2022, in Center.  Interment was in Smith Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born January 8, 1944, to Opal Dunham and Joe Baker.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, David Smith; Brother, Charlie Baker.  Survivors include, Husband, Clyde Smith; Children, Michael Mayo (Patsy) of Trinity, Diana Burress of Center, Laurie Miller of Shelbyville, Joe Smith of Center; Michael Smith (Shiloh) of Center; Daughter-in-law, Tammie Smith of Center; Special daughter, Susan Samford; Special son-in-law, Curtis Fountain of Shelbyville; Stepdaughter, Lisa Kay Miller; Sister, Frances Hayworth of Trinity.

RUBY BROWN RICKETSON
Ruby Brown Ricketson, 91, of Center, died July 25, 2022, in Center.  She was born August 7, 1930, to Bridgie Hilliard and Nicholas Brown.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Dale D. Ricketson; Parents; Siblings, Gerald Brown, Irene Jones Fuller, Elwanda Merriman, Jerry Brown, Virgil Brown, Kathryn Power.  Survivors include, Son, Alan Ricketson and Becky of Center; Daughter, Sandra and Wayne King of Laurel, Delaware; Sisters, Barbara Brown Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas, Christine and John Kelly of Orange Beach, Alabama.

SIDNEY VAN LANE
Sidney Van Lane, 79, formerly of Tenaha, Texas, died August 1, 2022, in Spring Brach, Texas.  Interment was in Tennessee Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on April 26, 1943. Raised by Emmett and Yvonne Lane outside of Tenaha, Texas in the Tennessee community.  He served his country in the U. S. Army first at Fort Polk then at Fort Hood from 1964 to 1966.  He was preceded in death, Parents Yvonne and Emmett Lane; Brother, Douglas Lane.  Survivors include, Daughter, Stephanie Lane Hankins & son-in-law Todd Hankins.

DON SPINCER JACKSON
Don Spincer Jackson, 75, of Shelbyville, Texas, died August 2, 2022, in Shelbyville. Interment was in Dunnigan Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on September 9, 1946, in Center, Texas, to William Henry Jackson and Viola Deason Jackson.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, WH Jackson, Beck Jackson, Eugene Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Lavon Jackson, Billy Joe Jackson, Bobby Jackson, Murl Jackson; Sister, Gracie Wilson.  Survivors include, Wife, Kathryn; Sons, Mark Jackson & wife Jennifer, David Jackson & wife Christy; The children’s mother, Barbara Risinger; Brothers, Douglas Jackson & wife Marcel, Jimmy Jackson & wife Patricia.
