The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting September 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The guest speaker will be noted historian David Swanzy.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Alma Mae Hall, 88, of League City, formerly of Huxley, died August 5, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Nassau Bay, Texas. Interment was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born August 10, 1925 in Fulton County, Illinois to John Logan and Hazel Marie Huston Whitehead. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, William F. Hall; Daughter-in-law, Nelma Hall. Survivors include, Children, William “Bill” Hall of Galesburg, Illinois, Jack Hall & wife, Kathy of Houston, Rebecca Tucker & husband, Howard of League City, Melissa Jensen & husband, Robert of Carbondale, Illinois; Sister-in-law, LaVonne Law of Lewistown, Illinois.

CHARLES “Hutch” HUTCHERSON
Charles “Hutch” Hutcherson, 90, of Center, died August 07, 2014 at his residence. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born November 21, 1923 in Oakdale, Louisiana to William and Bertha McKinney Hutcherson. He worked for Center Motor Company as car salesman for many years. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Peggy Hutcherson; Granddaughter, Samantha Joyce Goings; Sons-in-law, Mike Burke & Roy Crain; Brothers, Arthur Hutcherson, William Hutcherson, George Hutcherson; Sister, Frances Farmer. Clara Ann Touchstone, 71, of Shreveport, formerly of Joaquin, died August 10, 2014 at Willis Knighton South in Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment was in Willow Grove Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born November 4, 1942 in Shelby County to Avery and Girtuce Parker Blount. She graduated from Joaquin High School in 1961. She was preceded in death by her parents. He was born February 13, 1944 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Herman Wyatt and Dovie Mae Whiddon Cole. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
