The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting September 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelby County Museum located on Pecan Street. The speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O”Neal. He will be speaking to us about Texas in World War I. The program will consist of interviews he had students do with people that they knew who were in WWI when he was teaching history at Panola College. Everyone is invited to attend.

James “Fredy” Franke, 79, of Center, died September 5, 2018, in Port Arthur, Texas. Interment was in Clever Creek Cemetery, Shelby County. .He was born March 23, 1939, in Shelby County, to Alfred Franke, Jr. and Ruth Bounds Franke. He served his country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Mary Elaine Sigler Franke. Survivors include, Daughters, Cindy Hauver & husband Dowd, of Vidor, Amanda Eaves & husband David, of Seabrook; Brother, Donald Franke & wife Barbara, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Sister, Doretta Watson of Beaumont.

Joe Parrish Bush, 91, of Shelbyville, Texas, died September 7, 2018 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born on May 12, 1927, in Tenaha, Texas to Euell Bush and Willie “Lout” Bush. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Son, Stevie Bush; Brother, J. C. Bush; Sisters, Bernice Baker, Eloise Andrus, Audrey McGee. Lela Beth Adams Harris, 89, of Tenaha, Texas, died September 6, 2018 at her residence. Interment will be in Faltine Cemetery, Gloster, Louisiana. She was born August 6, 1929. Survivors include, Son, Franklin Harris Sr. (Sonya) of Pascagoula, Mississippi; Daughter, Natalie Harris of Tenaha, Texas.

FLOYD LYNN TURNER
Floyd Lynn Turner, 75, died September 10, 2018. Interment will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born at the Turner Family farm home, in Center, Texas on July 27, 1943. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Floyd & Virgie Turner; Brothers & Sister, Dennis Turner, Flo Wilburn, Henry Turner, Tallis Turner; Ex-wife, Margaret Ann Nix. Lynn graduated from Center High School in 1962. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Survivors include, Daughter, Ginger Lynette Turner of Sulphur, Louisiana; Sister, Nelda Belle Turner, Gainesville, Florida; Sisters-in-law, Della Turner, Angleton, Texas, Lois Turner, Clute, Texas; Ex-wife, Jeanette Blair Shropshire, Fischer, Texas.
